Who Will Walk Away with the $148,587 Top Prize in the HPT St. Louis?

MSPT Hall of Famer Kou Vang
MSPT Hall of Famer Kou Vang

The 2019 Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) St. Louis began with 444 entrants but is now down to the final table of nine. Leading the way is 2018 Indiana State Poker Champion Tim Burden who bagged up a massive 3.8 million.

However, most of the players are relatively deep in relation to the blinds and given the stacked lineup that includes MSPT Hall of Famer Kou Vang and MSPT Meskwaki Champ Keith Heine, it really is anyone's game.

Here's a look at how things stack up at the final table, which will be live streamed (without hole cards per Missouri law) and recorded for a future television broadcast.

Byrnes: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Quad Kings for Kou

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Action folded around to Andy Echele, and he raised it to 60,000 from the cutoff, and was called by Keith Heine on the button.

Kou Vang thought for a moment, then three-bet shoved all in from his small blind.

Dave Simon folded his big blind, Echele made the call, and Heine got out of the way.

The players tabled their hands.

Vang: {k-Spades}{9-Spades}
Echele: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

The flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Spades} was a monster one for Vang.

The {k-Hearts} turn and {k-Clubs} river were a little bit of overkill, and secured vang's double up.

Action folded around to Andy Echele who raised to 85,000 from the hijack. Tim Burden called from the big blind.

The flop of {9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts} was checked by both players and the {4-Clubs} came on the turn. Burden lead out for 110,000 and was raised to 325,000 by Echele. Burden counted his chips and made the call.

Burden checked the {j-Diamonds} river and Echele moved all in. Burden looked at Echele and mucked his hand.
