Day 1b Started
The second of three starting flights is slated to kick off at 2 p.m. local time for the HPT Ameristar East Chicago $1,650 Main Event, and a larger field is expected to take to the felt in hopes of joining the sixteen survivors from yesterday's Day 1a flight.
Robert Keeling sits as the current chip leader, bagging up 422,000 in chips. Henry Zou (322,000), Alex Ziskin (148,000) and Kevin Maahs (83,000) were other notables able to find a bag for Day 2. Meanwhile, we expect to see Craig Casino, Greg Raymer, and Edward Ochana take another crack at navigating their way to Day 2 after falling short yesterday.
Today's Day 1b flight will play fifteen 40-minute levels, with a fifteen-minute break after every three levels, and a dinner break after Level 9. Registration remains open through the completion of the dinner break (approximately 9:30 p.m.) and a single re-entry option is available for players unfortunate enough to bust. One final flight is on tap for players, as Day 1c will kick off on Saturday at Noon local time.
Cards will be in the air at 2 p.m. local time, so be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews as we continue our coverage here at HPT Ameristar East Chicago.

A player raised to 300 from under the gun, and was called by Tim Barany on the button, as well as Season XV HPT East Chicago champ Nick Davidson in the big blind.
Action checked to Barany on a flop, and he bet 400. Only Davidson called.
Both players checked the turn, and the fell on the river. Davidson bet 300, and Barany released his hand.

A pot of 15,000 was already built up between Brandt Atkins from under the gun and an opponent on the button, and Atkins checked the board over to the button, who bet 10,000. Atkins shoved for 12,200 total, and the button went into the tank.
"Clock!" Atkins said after a minute, and the button, when asked by the TD if he had sufficient time, quickly said, "Yeah," with a sheepish grin.
"Show me that jack," the button told Atkins as he tossed in the last 2,200, and Atkins did him one better, tabling for Broadway. The button tossed his up on the felt and paid off his debt.

Brek Schutten checked a board from the small blind, and the hijack bet 1,500 into a pot of 3,000. Schutten called.
Schutten checked again on the river, and the hijack fired out 6,000. Schutten thought for a few moments, then called.
"Good call, ace-high," the hijack told Schutten. Schutten tabled and his opponent mucked.
