Big Blind Special for Bryne

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Melissa Bryne
Melissa Bryne

While whatever Melissa Bryne enjoyed for dinner while on break will likely remain unknown, one thing's for sure: She returned to a sweet, sweet hand for dessert.

Preflop action kicked off when the hijack opened to 1,700. The button and small blind called, as did Bryne from the big blind.

The players checked to the preflop aggressor on a flop of {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}, and he continued for 3,500. The button folded, and the small blind raised to 8,300. Bryne then three-bet to 20,000, leaving 15,700 behind.

The small blind went into the tank for a couple of minutes, alternating between checking his cards and grimacing. He eventually decided on a jam, covering Bryne, which she immediately called before turning over the nuts.

Melissa Bryne: {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Bryne's opponent's red kings didn't improve on the {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} runout, securing Bryne the double.

Anthony Wallace Takes Down Event #5: $200 NLH Deep Stack

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

For the past week, the Heartland Poker Tour has been hosting a slew of side events here at the Hollywood Casino St. Louis.

An even 200 players took part in Event #5: $200 NLH Deep Stack, generating a prize pool of $32,600 to be divvied up between the top 23 spots. A few of those that managed to earn a piece of the prize pool include Charles Leroi (10th - $717), Timothy Reedy (13th - $619), Benjamin Paulsen (17th - $489), and Brian Tracy (20th - $424).

The final four players made a deal that saw local Anthony Wallace earn the title and $4,642, while Rodney Clanton ($4,642), William Backes ($4,641) and Luke Mulch ($4,641) all left with a nice chunk of change in their pockets.

Sepiol Makes 'Em Wonder

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A player in early position opened to 1,800 and was called by a middle-position player and Daniel Sepiol in the hijack.

Three ways to a flop of {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}, the early-position player continued for 2,100. Both players behind quickly matched it.

The {q-Clubs} checked through.

After the {6-Spades} river dropped, completing the front-door flush draw, the players in early and middle position checked, and Sepiol fired 17,500—more than the pot. Both players laid their hands down, and Sepiol exposed the {a-Spades} before mucking, leaving the other card a mystery.

Coliny Wins Some Back

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Justin Coliny
Justin Coliny

Justin Coliny headed to dinner break with a stack nearing a quarter-million, leading the field. While he appears to have taken a hit in the current level, he shows no signs of slowing down the aggression.

With about 2,500 in the pot on a flop of {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts} heads up, Coliny bet 2,000, and his opponent in the small blind called.

The turn brought the {k-Diamonds}. The small blind checked, and Coliny checked back.

The river was the {j-Clubs}, putting four to a straight on the board, and Coliny fired 6,000 when checked to. The small blind thought for a minute before mucking, and the dealer pushed the pot Coliny's way.

O'Brien Battles Table's Big Stack

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Christopher Audrain opened to 1,600 from the hijack, and action folded around to Luke O'Brien, who defended his big blind.

Audrain down-bet the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop for 1,500 when checked to, and O'Brien called.

Neither player added any chips to the pot on the {3-Hearts} turn.

The {7-Diamonds} came down on the river, and O'Brien led for 4,000. Audrain gave it little consideration before mucking.

Audrain Finds River Salvation

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a {5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop, a player in the big blind had his last 50,000 in and at risk against Christopher Audrain in early position.

Big Blind: {5-}{5-}
Christopher Audrain: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Audrain's top two pair were in trouble against the bottom set of his opponent. The {9-Diamonds} turn was no help to Audrain, but the {j-Spades} river sent the big pot and the knockout to Audrain.

Skreens Takes From Wallace

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Anthony Wallace
Anthony Wallace

Bryan Skreens raised to 2,300 from middle position, and Anthony "Tone" Wallace, who won a preliminary event here at Hollywood Casino St. Louis earlier in the week, called in the big blind.

Wallace checked the {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{k-Diamonds} flop to Skreens, who bet 2,000. Wallace called.

The {6-Hearts} turn was checked again by Wallace, and Skreens bet 4,000. Wallace folded.
