Panagiotis Mavritsakis Eliminated In 3rd place (€161,500)

Level 40 : Blinds 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante

Panagiotis Mavritsakis open shoved from the button for 20,300,000, which was around 20 big blinds. David Docherty woke up with a hand in the small blind and made the call.

Panagiotis Mavritsakis: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
David Docherty: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Mavritsakis stood up and sighed as the cards were turned. He hit a pair of nines and Docherty had a pair of tens to win the pot.

Mavritsakis was eliminated in third place for €161,500.

Mavritsakis Lost as Docherty Overbets River

Level 40 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante

Panagiotis Mavritsakis limped in from the button and David Docherty checked his big blind.

The flop came down {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Mavritsakis bet the minimum of 1,000,000 after a check from Docherty. Docherty quickly called before both players knuckled the table on the {a-Diamonds} turn.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and it saw Docherty take the betting lead with a bet of 7,500,000, one and a half times the pot.

This sent Mavritsakis into a minutes-long tank where he searched for answers for the present and perhaps many more of life's questions.

Eventually, he decided his hand was not worth a call and he surrendered the pot to Docherty.

Level 40 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante

Declan Rice raise to 2,500,000 from the button and Tom Waters moved all in from the big blind for 7,325,000. Rice made the call and players flipped their cards.

Tom Waters: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Declan Rice: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. The spades on the flop brought the flush draw for Waters and the sweats for Rice, but the turn and river came came blanks.

Rice chipped up and Waters was eliminated in 4th place in €124,500.

Mavritsakis Turns Up the Heat, Doubles Without Trouble

Level 39 : Blinds 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

Panagiotis Mavritsakis has won the majority of pots since the last update, mostly with aggressive preflop plays. He has more than doubled his stack in this manner.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice and Tom Waters have lost one or two small pots and handed in a lot of blinds and antes.

Mavritsakis Doubles After Stack Dwindled

Level 39 : Blinds 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

The blinds and antes are starting to get higher, and with four people left players have to put them in quite often. This caused Panagiotis Mavritsakis' stack to diminish to just 5,100,00. Declan Rice was in the small blind and put enough to cover that amount in the middle when Mavritsakis was in the big blind. Mavritsakis let out a sigh before he made the call.

Panagiotis Mavritsakis: {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Declan Rice: {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Mavritsakis flopped trips on the {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop, leaving Rice dead to a runner-runner runout. The {6-Hearts} turn gave him a chance to his one of those runouts in the way of a backdoor flush draw.

The river was red, but of the wrong variety for Rice: {10-Diamonds} graced the felt, upgrading Mavritsakis to a full house.

There's always a sweat in poker, as they say, but Mavritsakis survived this all-in encounter to double up.
