Lewis Lucks Out on Higgins

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Toby Lewis has been riding his luck in this tournament, but it is working out well for him because he is up to 270,000. Lewis just won decent pot with {A-}{Q-} versus pocket queens when an ace was the door card on the flop.

Lewis has been in good form in recent months having reached the final table of the WPT L.A. Poker Classic and at the €25,000 High Roller at EPT Grand Final. Can Lewis make it a trio of final tables here in London?

Linton Marches On

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

After the cut-off and the small blind limp, Pete Linton raised from the big blind to 11,500. The other players elected to call. The small blind decides to check when the flop comes {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} and Linton takes down the pot with a c-bet of 16,600.

Linton folded his small blind on the next hand to a raiser from early position who showed Queens.

Folded to Linton on the button the next hand, he raised to 6,200. The small blind 3-bet to 16,200 and Liz Lieu in the big blind folded. Back to Linton who called.

The flop was {3-Clubs} {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} The small blind bet 13,600. Linton called.

The turn was {Q-Clubs} The small blind checked his cards and considered his options. The one he chose was to move all in for around 60,000.

Linton sighed and rocked back in his chair as he weighed the odds. A minute passeed and he announced what sounded like a reluctant call.

His opponent showed {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} Linton had {7-Spades} {3-Spades}

The river was the {K-Spades} Linton had a pair of threes, the pot and another victim.

Aido Takes on Trickett

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

The in-form Spaniard Sergio Aido opened to 6,000 from late position and he met some resistance in the shape of Sam Trickett on the button. Trickett, the number one all-time money winner in the United Kingdom, three-bet to 15,000. Once the blinds folded Aido called.

The {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Clubs} saw Aido check to Trickett, who surprisingly checked behind. The {6-Clubs} was the turn card and Aido greeted it with a 14,000 bet. No sooner had Aido's chips hit the felt, Trickett mucked.

Middleton Massacred

It's all over for Tom Middleton, his chips having gone to Rhys Jones.

Jones opened with {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Middleton flat-called while Paul Zimbler peeled from his short stack to see a {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-} flop. Zimbler checked and Jones checked behind as he didn't want to be forced to call Zimbler's bet should the latter jam. Middleton opted to bet 7,000 and Zimbler folded. Jones made the call to see a {4-} on the turn where he check-called another 19,500.

The river was an offsuit {8-} and Jones checked to Middleton again who moved all in for about 55,000. Jones quickly called and Middleton who had actually flopped a set found it was no good against Jones' turned straight.

McCulloch Represents a Flush

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Rory Campbell raised to 6,000 in middle position, Sam Trickett called in the cutoff and Neil McCullough came along for the ride in the big blind. The trio saw the dealer fan out the {K-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{J-Spades}. McCulloch checked to Campbell and Campbell tested the shark infested waters with an 11,200 bet. It was enough to fold out Trickett but McCulloch, who had been staring intently at Campbell since Campbell had raised, called.

The turn brought the {Q-Diamonds} into view and McCulloch checked and Campbell checked behind. The {3-Spades} completed a possible spade flush and McCulloch tried to represent it by betting 12,000. Campbell must have believed him because it did not take long for his cards to be sent to the muck.

Akenhead Out in Back to Back Hands

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

James Akenhead faced a shove of 21,000 and called on the button with {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} His opponent showed {A-Spades} {8-Clubs}

The board ran out {3-Hearts} {J-Spades} {6-Clubs} {j-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

The {8-Clubs} on the river chopped Akenhead’s stack in half, down to 22,000.

The next hand Akenhead was in the small blind again facing a shove. He asked how much it was and heard 49,000.

He checked and rechecked his cards. Was it good enough to call with? His tournament life was on the line. Eventually he decided it was too good a hand to fold and called.

His {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} though was in bad shape against his opponent’s {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {2-Hearts} and James Akenhead’s Wembley ISPT adventure was over.

Spets checked and Polchlopek bet 40,000 but the Norwegian opted to fold after a couple minutes' thought.
