Nowak Out in First Level

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

Similar to the elimination of The Talk in the first level of Day 1a, another player managed to turn 500 big blinds into thin air and that happened to be Renato Nowak. All cards were scooped up already and he asked for the floor about a possible re-entry while Yordanov Karagogov was busy stacking up his chips.

Zaskodny Loses Small Pot

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

In a three-way pot with around 4,000 in the middle, the {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} river was checked through and Lukas Zaskodny first to show, revealing {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a pair of queens and busted flushdraw. His first opponent folded but Rein Die Steine had that beat with aces.

More Swedes Enter

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

The Big Wrap seems to be very popular among Scandinavian poker players as several Danes were in action on Day 1a. A few Swedes also took part and Alexander Norden just re-entered while fellow countrymen Oskar Silow and Elvis Topuz joined the action, too.

Half-way through the second level of the day, the field shows 83 entries and 82 players remaining.

Nuts for Jachtmann

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante
Jan-Peter Jachtmann
Jan-Peter Jachtmann

Preflop 1,000 chips went in between Jan-Peter Jachtmann, Karlos and Alexandre Viard and that created a pot of 3,400 to the {q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop. Jachtmann checked and Karlos bet the pot, Viard called and Jachtmann came along.

The {7-Spades} turn was checked and Jachtmann bet the {5-Hearts} river for 10,500, which resulted in a fold from Karlos and a call from Viard. Jachtmann tabled the {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the nut straight and claimed the pot.

Schedlberger Takes From Karras

Level 2 : 100/300, 0 ante

Athanasios Karras reraised the pot to 4,400 and picked up a single caller in Karl Schedlberger to see the {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop. Schedlberger opted for a bet of 6,500 and Karras shook his head, then sent his cards into the muck with the remark "I had aces, bad aces."

Schedlberger flashed queens with a gutshot straight draw before raking in the pot.

Karras and Schedlberger Cash Again

Level 3 : 200/400, 0 ante
Karl Schedlberger
Karl Schedlberger

After their previous tangle in a smaller pot, Karl Schedlberger and Athanasios Karras met once again and this time by far more chips went into the middle.

The completed board showed {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Karras check-raised from 25,000 to 50,000. Schedlinger quickly pushed all in and that stunned Karras. "Do you have quads?" he asked and got no immediate answer.

Eventually, Schedlberger joined the conversation and asked his opponent whether or not he had ace-ten or ace-jack. Karras took another half a minute of consideration and folded.

Karras Among Recent Casualties

Level 3 : 200/400, 0 ante

Rein Die Steine very much stuck to the literal translation of his nickname and got his "stones" aka chips in, however, came up second-best and was among the early casualties on Day 1b. Athanasios Karras was also eliminated soon after losing a big portion of his stack without showdown and opted to re-enter shortly after.

One More for Jachtmann

Level 3 : 200/400, 0 ante

On the river of a completed board of {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Spades}, Helmut Schott made it 10,000 to go and Jan-Peter Jachtmann reluctantly called with the words "good bet or good call?"

Jachtmann had {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a straight and Schott only {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for two pair.

"Good call," Schott conceded and dropped below the starting stack.
