Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Finnish small business owner and poker aficionado Jari Saviaho heads to the eight-max televised final table of the 2019 Kings of Tallinn Main Event at Olympic Park Casino in the lead with 2,630,000 in chips.

Closely on Saviaho's tail are fellow Finn Jussi Mattila with 2,585,000 and Italy's Luca Sebastiani with 2,245,000. After the trio there is a more than 1 million chip gap to the next closest competitor going into the final day. Among the shorter stack survivors was Estonia's Andrei Volodtsenkov with a sixth-place stack of 775,000. Volodtsenkov can be a zero to hero story as he has advanced to the final table after qualifying to the tournament at OlyBet Poker for just €3.30.

The day began with 49 hopefuls looking to make the money and beyond. The bubble broke after Estonia's Jarko Lipp was eliminated in 35th place on a bad beat when his queens could hold against the pocket fives held by Sweden's Peter Pihlstrom. The remaining 34 players were each guaranteed a payday of at least €2,740 or more than double the €1,100 buy-in.

Dmitrijs Meless
Dmitrijs Meless

Three OlyBet Team Pros advanced to the penultimate day. However, two of them in Carmen-Elina Vist and Raigo Aasmaa fell shy of the money. Dmitrijs Meless was able to outperform his fellow team members by finishing in 22nd place for €2,940 after his pocket eights couldn't get there against the queens held by Estonia's Kaupo Tenno. Meless also advanced the furthest last year among OlyBet Team Pros when he took 13th place for €3,560.

Other notable players finishing the day in the money included Norway's Morten Mortensen (20th - €2,940), United Kingdom's Julian Adamson (19th - €2,940), Latvia's Yaniv Peretz (18th €2,940), and Day 2 chip leader from Estonia Janar Kokk (12th - €5,770).

The penultimate day of the tournament ended after Latvia's Andrejs Punka jammed his short-stack with ten-eight suited and couldn't win a flip against the pocket threes held by Saviaho. This was despite flopping a flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. Instead of coming back tomorrow, Punka took home the ninth place prize of €6,890.

Andrejs Punka Eliminated in 9th Place (€6,890)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Andrejs Punka
Andrejs Punka

The penultimate day of the Kings of Tallinn Main Event is now in the books with Andrejs Punka eliminated in ninth place for €6,890.

Punka jammed 225,000 with {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} from under the gun and was called by Jari Saviaho from the cutoff with {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

The {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop wasn't a terrible one for Punka as he flopped both a flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. In addition, his ten and eight were both live as well.

However, none of the cards Punka needed came with the {7-Clubs} hitting the turn followed by the {a-Clubs} on the river.

The remaining eight players will come back tomorrow at 1 p.m. EET to battle down to a winner. Each of the final eight are guaranteed a payout of at least €8,460 with the winner slated to receive €85,300 and the trophy.

Stay tuned at PokerNews as we provide final chip counts of the final eight and the recap of the day.

Jari Saviaho opened from early position with {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} and got calls from Jussi Mattila in the small blind with {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and from Kaupo Tenno in the big blind with {k-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The action checked around to Saviaho after the flop came {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and he bet 90,000. Mattila called and Tenno folded.

Both players checked after the {q-Hearts} paired Saviaho. Mattila then fired out for 170,000 after the {9-Diamonds} came on the river and got a snap-call from Saviaho.

After the hand, Saviaho took the chip lead on the unofficial final table with 2,300,000 in chips.

Over on the feature table, Jussi Mattila opened up from the cutoff to 80,000 with {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Kaupo Tenno called from the small blind with {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} before Leo Tapani Pietila called from the big blind with {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

Bahadir Hatipoglu jammed his massive stack of about 1.7 million in the small blind and Juho Heiska called off for his remaining stack of around 300,000 in the big blind.

Hatipoglu turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and was ahead of Heiska's {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Heiska was never able to catch up as the board ran out {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and he was eliminated in 11th place for €5,770. The remaining 10 players are now each guaranteed a payout of €6,890.

Janar Kokk lost some of his chips before he lost the rest. In his final hand, Luca Sebastiani opened to 65,000 from under the gun and Kokk called from one seat over.

Both players checked after the {2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} came on the flop. The action then picked up. Sebastiani bet 95,000 after the {7-Diamonds} came on the turn and Kokk shoved for 603,000.

Sebastiani went into the tank for a couple of minutes before he made the call.

"Nice hand," said Kokk before either player showed their cards.

Kokk then turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and was behind the top pair of Sebastiani holding {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

The {4-Diamonds} was unable to save Kokk and he was eliminated in 12th place for €5,770.

Action will pause for the day when there are eight players remaining.

Vladimir Bednar: {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Janar Kokk: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Kokk's two pair held up with the {5-Hearts} coming on the turn and the {j-Spades} appearing on the river and is now back among the chip leaders.

Henri Schalin opened in early position to 85,000. Vladimir Bednar jammed his stack of about 800,000 from the button. The action folded back around to Schalin who sighed and then called off his stack of around 360,000.

Vladimir Bednar: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Henri Schalin: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Schalin wasn't in good shape and things got worse after the {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop gave his opponent a set. After the {3-Hearts} came on the turn, Schalin was drawing dead.

To add insult to injury, the {q-Clubs} came on the river giving him a set of queens to his opponent's set of kings.
