Welcome back for Day 2 of the PokerStars.net LAPT San Jose. Yesterday saw 219 hopefuls vying for the title, but just 38 of them were left with chips by the time Level 10 ended late last night. By the end of the day today, another 30 of those will see their hopes dashed as well.
Rob Woodcock comes in to play with the big chip lead, courtesy of a massive rally towards the end of Day 1. He is sitting with more than 180,000 chips, almost 50,000 ahead of his nearest competitor. The full list of players and starting stacks can be found in the "Chip Counts" tab to the right.

From middle position, Mark Hirleman opened with a raise to 4,000. Action passed around the table until Chase Chenoweth made the call from the small blind.
Heads up then, the flop brought . Chenoweth checked to the raiser, and Hirleman bet out another 4,000, which was quickly called.
Fourth street was the . Hirleman was allowed to lead again, this time moving all in for exactly 14,000. Chenoweth went into the tank for several minutes before finally making the call, putting his opponent at risk of elimination.

Looking for a jack but finding none, Chenoweth watched the river bring a useless . He sends a double up over to Mark Hirleman, and is left with just 850 chips.
Mike Collins opened the betting with a raise to 4,400 from under the gun. It passed all the way around the table to the blinds, where Maria Stern gave him a call from the big.
Heads up, the flop showed . Stern checked over to Collins, allowing him to continue out with 6,500 chips. Not to be deterred, Stern put in a check-raise, adding an additional 20,000 to the bet. After pausing to think for a minute or two, Collins moved all in, and Stern quickly called.

Collins actually had running outs to a flush, but the on the turn locked up a chopedp pot. The river was a meaningless . Despite there being more than 150,000 piled in the middle of the table, no chips exchanged hands.
Brent Sheirbon opened the pot with a raise to 4,000, and Abraham Rosenkrantz made the call. Next to act was Joel Micka, and he bumped it up to 12,000. When it folded back around to Sheirbon, he moved all in with a big stack of about 104,000 total. Rosenkrantz was going nowhere, as he made the call. That was enough to get Micka out of the way and create a heads-up contest for a monster pot.

The board was a big dry desert for Rosenkrantz, coming out . Sheirbon's aces held up to win him a massive pot and vault him into the chip lead. After the chips were counted, Rosenkrantz was just barely covered, and he will make a stunning exit, despite have a top five chip stack to begin play today. Sheirbon, on the other hand, is left with 220,000!
