Let's See How This Ends First

Not leaving just yet
Not leaving just yet
Chris Moneymaker stopped by Joe Hachem's table just after the dinner break and returned about 15 minutes ago. Looking over Hachem's middling stack he said, "Would you bust already? We need three people for a satellite!"

But it looks like Hachem will be hanging around this event just a bit longer. He raised to 1,800 from early position and the player two to his left made the call. The flop came {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {J-Hearts} and Hachem checked. His opponent fired out 4,000 chips and after a brief pause Hachem announced he was all in. His opponent deliberated for about a minute before saying, "Call".

Which is when he learned that his {9-Spades} {8-Spades} trailed Hachem's {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. The {A-Hearts} on the turn and {K-Clubs} on the river sealed the deal and brought Hachem's stack up to around 24,000.

Mark Ioli at 69K

Mark "Semi-Pro" Ioli
Mark "Semi-Pro" Ioli
Mark Ioli had been building a stack over the course of the evening. He just busted a short stack who shoved into Ioli's big blind. Ioli called with {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and was up against {K-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}. Ioli flopped a ten and rivered a flush (which was unnecessary) to win the pot. After he stacked up his chips, he was looking at almost 70,000. That places him among the chipleaders.

No Action for Umbrella Man

Local celebrity... Umbrella Man
Local celebrity... Umbrella Man
Zach "Umbrella Man" Hall made a stand. One player opened with a raise and Umbrella Man shoved all in over the top for his last 12,000. The player contemplated a call but folded. He asked Umbrella Man to see his cards. Initially Umbrella Man flashed one card then tabled both cards... {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}.

Umbrella Man has quickly become a local celebrity. Shortly after dinner break, one of the railbirds slipped passed security and snuck inside the roped off tournament area. He was an elderly Argentinean and took out his cell phone. He snapped a photo of Umbrella Man and rushed back out to the rail.

Joe Hachem Up, then Down

After doubling up just a few minutes ago Joe Hachem lost a big chunk of his stack in your typical race situation. After a player raised to 2,000 Hachem made it 6,000 to go. His opponent tanked for a bit before pushing his chips in the middle and Joe quietly called.

His {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} were pitted against {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}, and after Hachem got no help from the {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {2-Spades} {8-Diamonds} he shipped the majority of his chips across the table. He's back down to around 12,000.

Alex Gomes Gets Four Flushed

"Did you see that suckout?"
"Did you see that suckout?"
I caught the hand on the flop of {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {3-Spades}. I could not tell if both players were all in on the flop or if they were all in preflop. Alex Gomes held {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} against an opponent's {J-Spades} {J-Hearts}. The turn was the {8-Spades} and Gomes all of a sudden had to fade a flush draw. Alas, the {3-Spades} spiked on the river and Gomes walked away from the table in disgust after he was brutally runner-runner'd. His opponent was all in for around 27,000. Gomes was left with around 20,000.

Broken Umbrella

R.I.P. Umbrella Man
R.I.P. Umbrella Man
Sad news. Zach Hall, the fellow we humbly referred to as 'Umbrella Man" is no longer with us. He just busted out. We're too upset right now to even post the hand considering that news of his elimination absolutely devastated us.

Alexandre Gomes Rakes a Big Pot

Limbering Up
Limbering Up
We arrived at this hand a bit late, but apparently all the money went in after a {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {8-Spades} flop. Perhaps Alexandre Gomes' opponent put him on a flush draw or pure air, but he soon found that his {6-?} {4-?} were way behind Gomes' {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}. The {K-Clubs} on the turn and {J-Spades} on the river earned Gomes a pot that lifted his stack all the way up to 52,000.
