Down to the Final Two Tables

Once the money bubble broke, the eliminations happened so fast that we had a tough time keeping up. Right now, there are 17 players remaining.

Mark Ioli and Dominik Nitsche are still the big stacks. The young American and young German have been gobbling up chips all afternoon.

Rodrigo Caprioli Eliminated in 17th Place ($17,640)

Rodrigo Caprioli--17th Place
Caprioli moved all in preflop and, as he's done quite often today, Mark Ioli wielded the power of his massive stack and moved all-in as well to isolate. Caprioli turned over {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} but Ioli had the goods with {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. The board ran out {6-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {8-Spades} and Rodrigo Caprioli was out in the 17th spot.

Two Chipleaders Battle; Dominik Nitsche Wins Largest Pot of Tournament... So Far

Nitsche 1, Ioli 0

The two chipleaders clashed and fireworks ensued. Dominik Nitsche opened for a raise, much like he has been doing all afternoon . Mark Ioli reraised to 60,000. Nitsche said, "All in."

"Did you say all in?" asked Ioli

Nitsche nodded.

"I call," said Ioli.

Nitsche tabled {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts} and Ioli flipped over {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}. Ioli jumped out of his chair and screamed, "Yes! I knew it."

Ioli had Nitsche covered. If his hand held up, he'd bust the second biggest stack in the room.

The flop was {A-Hearts} {J-Spades} {6-Hearts}. Nitsche could not have asked for a better flop. The young German picked up a flush draw and a gutshot Broadway straight draw. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Nitsche made his flush, much to the dismay of Ioli who looked absolutely crushed. The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Nitsche won the pot.

It took a couple of minutes to count down Nitsche's remaining stack... which was around 326,000. The dealer pushed a pot to him worth over 700,000. Ioli slipped to 170,000.

Dinner Time

With the non-stop action that's gone on since we hit the money, a pause comes as a welcome relief. The players are on dinner break for 90 minutes. Whew.

Two with One Blow; Damian Salas Eliminated in 15th Place, Eduardo Santi Eliminated in 14th Place ($21,160)

We lost two players on the second hand back from the break. Eduardo Santi moved all in for around 100,000 and Damian Salas moved in for a bit less. Sergio Farias capped his cards and thought for a good bit before also making the call.

He held {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} to Santi's {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} and Salas' {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds}. The dealer laid out the flop and the door card was the {8-Diamonds}...but the {J-Clubs} {2-Clubs} followed, and Santi put his hands to his head in anguish as his lead in the hand was so quickly taken away.

The turn brought the {J-Diamonds} and the river the {2-Spades} and just like that two players were eliminated immediately following the break. Based on chip stack Damian Salas finished in 15th place and Eduardo Santi 14th, with both winning $21,260.

Hugo Spangenberg Eliminated in 12th Place ($24,700)

"See you on summer Phish tour."
"See you on summer Phish tour."
Action folded around to Jorge Landazuri on the button. He raised to 32,000. Hugo Spangenberg announced that he was all in from the big blind. The young gun from Mexico, Landazuri, headed into the tank for several minutes as Spangenberg shot him the evil eye and stared him down. Landazuri slumped in his chair and played with his chips before he said, "OK. I call."

Spangenberg: {2-Hearts} {2-Spades}
Landazuri: {A-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}

The flop was {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} and Landazuri took the lead. The turn was the {K-Spades}, which gave Spangenberg outs for a possible chopped pot. The river was the {3-Diamonds}. Landazuri won the pot and Spangenberg was eliminated in 12th place.
