Jose Luis Capdevila button-raised to 26,000, and big blind Cesar Mostafa came along from the big blind. The flop brought out , and with it came the action. Mostafa led out with a bet of 25,000, drawing a raise to 67,000 from Capdevila. When the three-bet came, Capdevila called all in for a total of about 220,000, Mostafa having him well covered.
Showdown
Capdevila:
Mostafa:
Mostafa had no pair and no draw, but if he could hit, he would skyrocket up close to the million-chip mark.
The on the turn missed him, though. And so did the that rivered. Capdevil's pair holds up, and he's earned himself a huge double up to 510,000.
That knocks Mostafa all the way back to 420,000, and Norbert Luges picks up the chip lead by virtue of that slide.
We pick up the action in a heads-up pot as the dealer ran out a flop of . Jose Luis Capdevila checked, and Cesar Mostafa checked it right back.
Fourth street brought the and another Capdevila check. Mostafa figured it was the time to bet now, and he slid out 27,000. Capdevila took pause for just a moment before calling, and the filled out the board on fifth street. When Capdevila checked again, Mostafa fired a final bet of 68,000. Capdevila paused for what must have been two or three full minutes before splashing the calling chips into the pot.
Mostafa tabled , and his full house was the winner. Capdevila offered a quiet, "Nice hand," as he returned his cards to the muck.
Bernardo Dias opened to 25,000 in the cutoff seat, and Nacho Barbero three-bet him from the small blind. He made it 75,000 to play, only to see Dias shove in for 228,000 total. Without much hesitation, Barbero made the call to put Dias at risk.
Showdown
Dias:
Barbero:
Dias stood from his chair to talk to his friends on the rail, turning around just in time to see the land in the door. A loud, "Yes!" came from Dias and his rail in a simultaneous eruption of celebration. In the end, the board of gives Dias the double, shooting him all the way up to about 470,000.
Cesar Mostafa has just regained the overall chip lead after tangling in a relatively significant pot with Norbert Ludger.
Mostafa was the preflop aggressor in position, and Ludger put in the call from the big blind. They both checked the flop of , and Ludger check-called a bet of 32,000 on the turn. The was the river card, and Ludger check-called another 60,000-chip bet.
Mostafa showed up for the unbeatable nut straight. Ludger mucked, but Mostafa asked for his hand to be turned over. We cringe every time that happens down here, but the dealer obliged and pulled Ludger's out of the muck.
In the cutoff seat, Norbert Ludger limped into the pot, and he called a raise of 35,000 from Bernardo Dias on the button.
The two men went heads up to a flop of . Ludger knocked the table, allowing Dias to continue out with a bet of 65,000. He then stuck in a check-raise to 140,000 before Dias three-bet shoved all in. Ludger quickly called for his own tournament life, putting a pot of nearly one million chips up for grabs!
Showdown
Ludger:
Dias:
Ludger had found his two pair, needing to fade the aces and the screwy two pair possibilities to double up. The on the turn was as safe as any card, and the on the river was just fine for him as well.
Kings up are kind to Ludger, and he's tallied that huge double in the largest pot of the tournament.
In a battle of the forced bettors, Nacho Barbero completed when the table folded around to his small blind. In the big, Cesar Mostafa made it 49,000 straight, and Barbero came right back with an all-in shove for about 250,000 total. Mostafa quickly called with his big stack.
Showdown
Barbero:
Mostafa:
It was a race for Barbero's survival, and he would run fastest in this one. The board rolled out , and his pair of queens takes it down. Chips are flying around the room right now as nobody is afraid of playing a big pot.
We caught up to the action late, but it looks like Bernardo Dias got his ~150,000 remaining chips into the pot preflop with . When we walked up, Norbert Ludger's were up on the felt as well, and we had yet another race situation on our hands.
The flop was a damn good miss for Dias as it came out . He bricked the turn, but he would not miss that many outs twice. The landed on the river, giving him the spade flush and securing his double up to 310,000.
Don't worry about Ludger, he's just fine. His stack of 830,000 is still well out in front of the rest of his competition.
