Erick Cabrera more than doubled up through neighbor Ismael Cádiz to rapturous cheers from the enthusiastic Peruvian crowd. He opened from UTG to 160,000 and was called by Cádiz on the button and Jose Barbero in the big blind.
On the flop Barbero moved out of the way as Cabera and Cádiz got all their chips in the middle. Cádiz opened for top two-pair and Cabrera revelaed for top pair and flush draw.
The crowd were going mental for a heart but it failed to come on the turn. Their calls were answered though as the river came . The two swap places as the short stack now.
Ismael Cádiz was into shoving mode after losing that last pot and that's exactly what he did from the button. The amount was 490,000 and after a count Jose Barbero made the call from the BB. Showdown:
Cádiz:
Barbero:
The board ran .
Cádiz failed to improve and he exited the stage to generous applause. Three handed play will begin now.
Barrows raised from the button and was called by both Barbero and Cabrera but it was only the latter that stayed on beyond Barrows' 175,000 continuation bet on the flop. No action on the turn. Cabrera then led from the big blind for (what sounded like) 200,000 and Barrows passed.
Three players are left battling it out for the $250,000 first place prize. Barbero is looking to cement his place in LAPT history as the first player to win two titles (back to back).
Cabrera raised from the button to 170,000 and was three-bet by Barbero from the big blind to 400,000. Cabrera flat called. Barbero fired 420,000 at the flop and Cabrera quickly moved all-in over the top for 1.3m. Barbero passed and the crowd went wild (again).
The chips didn't last lost over the left hand side of the table as Jose Barbero has taken them back off Erick Cabrera. The two were in the blinds and limped to see a flop. Barbero check-raised Cabrera 's 100,000 bet up to 240,000. The Peruvian called to see the whee he called a 370,000 bet from Barbero. The river came and the Argentine kept up the pressure with a 500,000 bet. Cabrera thought long and hard but folded.
Jose Barbero raised from the small blind to 180,000 and Cabrera called. A c-bet of 180,000 on the was enough to take it down. Barbero must be up to around 3.6m now well ahead of Cabrera (approx 2.4m) and Barrows (approx 1.3m).
It's almost been like a heads-up match recently as Ben Barrows has let the other two battle it out. He's now decided to get back in the game and has moved all-in two hands in a row. Firstly from the SB blind and then from the button. Both times he got the bet through. Then he was all-in from the BB but this time it was after a raise from Jose Barbero on the button.
