Moving to Eight-Handed Play

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

With ten tables left in the tournament, the field will now transition from 9-handed play to 8-handed play. Once the transition is complete, the rest of the tournament will play out 8-handed.

Vieira's Big Pair Nets Big Pot

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Emerson Baroni drew a tough seat today, sitting to the immediate right of fellow big stack Rodrigo Vieira. Vieira got the best of Baroni in a big pot the two just played. On a flop of {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Baroni led out for 35,000. Vieira quickly moved all in for about 130,000, which was way too much for Baroni. He snap-folded, then went for a walk to the rail after Vieira showed pocket queens. Baroni is seemingly unhappy about his state of affairs, down to 142,000 chips.

After stacking up that pot, Vieira increased his count to about 205,000.

Bad to Worse for Baroni

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Amos Ben Haim
Amos Ben Haim

Amos Ben Haim has joined Emerson Baroni's table and just caught a helluva turn card to drag a huge pot from Baroni. We got there in time to see Ben Haim lead out for 41,500 on the river of a {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} board. Baroni made a quick call and was visibly angered to see Ben Haim turn up {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for queens full of jacks. Baroni flung his cards face up on the table to reveal the black jacks, {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}, for jacks full of queens. After paying off the river bet he went for another walk, depleted all the way to just 55,000.

Ben Haim now has about 350,000.

Nadal Taking a Beating

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Since folding that first Broadway straight things have continued to go downhill for Santiego Nadal. He tried again by raising his button to 6,600. The big blind three-bet to 12,100, with Nadal making the call. On a flop of {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}, the big blind continued for 6,800. Nadal folded without a word, then nodded as the big blind showed {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Nadal is down to 210,000.

Nadal Slipping Some More

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Action folded to Santiego Nadal in the hijack seat and he raised to 6,600. Otavio Mesquita called from the button and the big blind also called.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and action checked to Nadal. He bet 11,400 and Mesquita folded. The big blind made the call.

The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and both players checked. They also checked after the {4-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

The big blind tabled the {K-Spades}{10-Spades} for kings and deuces. Nadal couldn't beat it and mucked his hand. Nadal's now down to 197,000 in chips.

Pereira Left Pacing

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Jorge Pereira
Jorge Pereira

A player checked the flop of {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to Jorge Pereira. He fired a pot-sized bet of 20,000. His opponent put in a check-raise to 60,000. Pereira, who had 71,500 behind, tanked and tanked. He eventually gave it up and got up from his seat to pace back and forth a bit before the next hand.

Baroni Out

Emerson Baroni eliminated
Emerson Baroni eliminated

Emerson Baroni moved all in for just under 55,000 after a played opened with a raise to 8,900. That player made a quick called after action folded back to him.

Baroni: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

"Sete! Sete!" yelled out Baroni for a seven.

He got his seven, but there was also a king on the {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop. The turn brought the {J-Hearts} and the river the {J-Diamonds} to finish things from there and Baroni was eliminated.

A Colonese Two-For-One

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

A curious hand just played out at the front table. A short stack open-shoved for about 50,000. Action passed to the cutoff player, who over-shoved for about 150,000. With action still pending on Fabio "sepfecti" Colonese in the big blind, the short stack tabled his hand,{a-Spades}{5-Hearts}. The second player didn't realize that Colonese hadn't acted and tabled his own {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Seeing those hands, Colonese elected to call with {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Those nines held, {5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, to catapult Colonese to about 400,000 in chips.
