Day 4 Started

Who Will Be the First Champion of the Latin American Poker Tour Season 5?

Day 4 of the Latin American Poker Tour Chile will kick off in a little under an hour and won’t stop until a winner is determined. For the past five days, the Enjoy Casino & Resort in Vina del Mar has played host to the LAPT’s first Main Event of Season 5, which drew 651 entrants and created a prize pool of $651,840.

Yesterday, the final 32 players whittled themselves down to just eight fairly quickly. The eliminations were fast furious, until the last one when Leonardo Olivares raised to 120,000 in the cutoff, and after the button and small blind folded, Pedro Frankel moved all in from the big for 425,000 total. Olivares called and Frankel turned over {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}, which was off to the races against the {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} of Olivares.

The players and railbirds were on their feet as the flop came out {9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Olivares had paired his king to take the lead and left Frankel in need of some major help. The {10-Diamonds} turn certainly wasn't it, and neither was the {8-Diamonds} turn. Frankel was dispatched in ninth place for $10,690 and the LAPT Chile final table was set.

No Value for Velasquez

Felipe Velasquez opened for 90,000 from early position and Nicholas Batt, who was in the hijack, was the only player to call. Velasquez proceeded to check-call a bet of 100,000 on the {10-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop, before both players checked down the {10-Clubs} turn and {J-Clubs} river. Batt revealed {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a straight, but it was no good against {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} full house of Velasquez.

Escobar Gets Some Back

Aliro Diaz opened for 90,000 from middle position only to have Sergio Escobar three-bet to 220,000 from the small blind. Diaz thought for a few moments before making the call, bringing about a flop of {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Escobar was first to act and fired out 220,000, which inspired Diaz to release his hand.
