Twenty-four hours ago, 367 players were filing into the Sheraton WTC with an extra R$4,000 burning holes in their pockets. They'd come to play Day 1 of the PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour São Paulo, and they've created a prize pool in excess of R$1.3 million. Ten levels have already come and gone, and just 107 lucky players survived long enough to bag up chips.
Among them is Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu who turned up a bit late for the starting time. He was in bed sleeping off some of the Brazilian intoxicants from the night before, but his power nap did him well. Negreanu chipped up steadily through the course of the evening, bagging up 121,700 chips to put himself just outside the overnight top ten.
Leo Fernandez, Humberto Brenes, and Nacho Barbero are also still in contention for the Team PokerStars Pros, and Barbero is doing the best of that bunch with an average stack of 65,200. Also returning today from the Notables category are Mayu Roca Uribe (128,000), Jorge Pereira (113,700), Elio Fox (99,700), Felipe Ramos (97,300), and Bill Gazes (44,000).
Everyone's chasing Jean Double right now, though, and his stack of 189,400 gives him the title of Chip Leader after the first day.
The players are just beginning to trickle into the room right now, and we're about a half hour away from our scheduled starting time. Sit tight; we'll be back when the cards go in the air.
Level: 11
Blinds: 800/1,600
Ante: 200
The cards are in the air on Day 2!
When the table folded around to his button, Martin Rafael Lategui Lourido shoved his last ~19,000 chips into the middle. Next door, Patrick Mahoney reraised to isolate, and he was heads up with a chance at the knockout.

The flop was a bad start for the at-risk player, but he managed to pick up a couple outs when the hit fourth street. He needed to find another one of those tens on the river, but the river was Mahoney's full house.
Lourido is out, and we're minus one player.

First in from the cutoff, Daniel Trotta Borges opened to 3,700, and Elio Fox defended his big blind to go heads up to the flop.
It came , and Fox checked to the raiser. Borges made his continuation bet of 4,600, and Fox didn't waste too much time dropping the call into the pot. The arrived on the turn, and Borges wasn't slowing down yet. He fired a second bullet worth 10,000 flat, and Fox gave him a short staredown before surrendering his cards into the muck.

Action folded to Henry Esteban Merchan Bravo in the cutoff seat and he raised to 3,500. Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero called from the button and everyone else folded before the dealer spread the flop. Bravo checked and Barbero bet 4,000. Instantly, Bravo made the call.
The dealer landed the on the turn and Bravo checked again, still acting very quickly with his decisions. Barbero bet 7,300 and Bravo folded instantly.

When we arrived up on the feature table stage, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu had just tossed in the call of an unknown Casio Pisapia bet on the flop. The turn brought the and Pisapia fired again, this time for 9,000. Negreanu mulled it over for a little bit and then called.
After the paired the board on the river and completed a possible flush draw, Pisapia thought before checking to the four-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner. Negreanu picked some chips from a few stacks and tossed in a bet of 17,500. After a minute, Pisapia mucked and told Negreanu, "Nice hand."
"Thanks," was all Negreanu had to say as he collected the pot.

Mayu Roca Uribe arrived a bit late to Day 2, but he's come in firing. We've seen him play a couple pots already, and we picked up the most recent one as he opened to 3,500 from middle position. Next door, Manuel Silvestre Souza three-bet to 11,300, and that folded the table back around to Uribe. He wanted to play for more, and his reraise to 21,500 was quickly matched by Souza.
The flop came , and Uribe continued out with a smallish bet of 11,600. Small or not, it got the job done as Souza surrendered and the pot was pushed to the Colombian.
