From the hijack seat, Carlos Ibarra came in with a raise to 27,000, and Martin Santos three-bet to 63,000 from the small blind. Ibarra spent a long while considering, but he eventually surrendered his cards into the muck.
On the next hand, Ibarra tried again with the same opening raise, and this time it got through. When the dealer pushed him the pot, he exposed his with a smile.
Daniel Negreanu opened the pot to 22,000 from the hijack seat, and Caio Pimenta flatted on the button. The two men were heads up, and the dealer rolled out a flop. Negreanu check-called a bet of 19,000 from Pimenta, and the hit the turn. Check-check.
The river came the , and now Negreanu got that betting feeling. He stacked up 57,000 and slid them into the middle, but Pimenta was having none of it. He made a big raise to 185,000, and Negreanu tanked and folded.
We don't expect that's the last time we'll see those two mixed up in a crafty pot.
In the history of the PokerStars-sponsored poker tours, no player has ever made it to an LAPT, APPTandEPT final table. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu has the chance to be the first-ever player to accomplish that feat if he can maneuver his way down to the final eight in this event.
At the EPT Vienna in 2010, Negreanu placed fourth out of 578 players for €175,000. Later that year, he took ninth in the APPT Sydney Grand Final for A$36,415. It is of note that the Sydney final table was nine-handed, whereas most APPT, LAPT and EPT final tables are generally eight-handed.
Ioannis Beris raised to 27,000 to open the pot from middle position, and Daniel Negreanu flatted in the cutoff to go heads up to the flop.
The dealer spread out , and Beris continued out with another 36,000. He and Negreanu have been friendly and chatty, and they exchanged a few quick words before the latter made his play.
"I'm just going to go all in," Negreanu said as he pushed some chips across the line.
"That's it?" Beris asked back. "I'm just going to fold." He uncapped his cards and slipped them muckward, and Negreanu has chipped his way up to 830,000 with that pot.
Caio Pimenta raised to 27,000 from early position, and Ioannis Beris three-bet shoved from across the table. It was 176,000 total. When it came back around to Pimenta, he spent a long while in the tank before talking himself into the call, and Beris was in good shape to double.
Showdown
Beris:
Pimenta:
There was no funny stuff on the board, and Beris' two pair earned him the much-needed double. It knocks Pimenta back down around the half-million chip mark.
Jonathan Markovits raised to 29,000 from middle position and Carlos Ibarra flat-called from the hijack seat. On the button, Juan Gonzalez reraised all in for 200,000. Everyone folded and Gonzalez won the pot.
It has not been a good level for Daniel Nestola. His chip stack of nearly 1.2 million had been whittled down to about 850,000 when he got himself involved in another big pot.
It was Ioannis Beris who opened with an under-the-gun raise to 27,000, and Nestola three-bet him to 68,000 on the button. Beris responded by shoving all in for 376,000, and Nestola made the call with his covering stack. It was a coin flip, and Beris' was a small favorite against his opponent's .
The turn of the board made things a little bit sweatier, but the river was clean and safe for Beris. After the last card hit the board, both players spun away from the table with emotional reactions. For Beris' part, it was a celebratory lap around the stage with his fists pumping.
Nestola, however, was left to pace slowly away as he cursed his luck and mumbled to himself in his native German. He's been set all the way back to about 470,000 now, a fact which he is none too pleased with as he counts down his own stack.
From under the gun, Felipe Morbiducci raised to 26,000. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu called from the hijack seat and then action folded to short-stacked Gasperino Nicolas in the big blind. He also made the call and the three players took the flop. After Nicolas checked, Morbiducci bet 35,000. Negreanu called and Nicolas folded.
The turn was the and both Morbiducci and Negreanu checked to see the on the river. Again, they both checked.
Morbiducci tabled the and Negreanu mucked his hand.
