Nicolas Limps Aces

From early position, Gasperino Nicolas limped in. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu limped from the hijack seat and then Juan Gonzalez checked his option in the big blind.

The flop produced the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Gonzalez checked to Nicolas. He bet 50,000 and Negreanu called. Gonzalez folded.

The {3-Clubs} landed on the turn and Nicolas bet another 50,000. Again, Negreanu made the call.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Nicolas stayed with the same bet, firing 50,000 for a third time. Negreanu mentioned that he had Nicolas beat until that card, then folded. Nicolas showed the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} and after seeing it, Negreanu was surprised and said he had a queen. He also went on to add that if Nicolas had checked, Negreanu was going to turn his hand into a bluff and bet big on the river.

Ibarra Fires River

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

From early position, Juan Gonzalez raised to 48,000 and Carlos Ibarra called from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades} and action checked through to see the {8-Diamonds} land on the turn. Both players checked again before the river landed with the {K-Clubs}. Ibarra bet 48,000 and Gonzalez tank-folded.

Joshua Ewing Eliminated in 9th Place (R$22,390)

Joshua Ewing - 9th Place
Joshua Ewing - 9th Place

It's all over for today. Falling in ninth place and taking home R$22,390 was Joshua Ewing from the United States.

Action folded to Ewing and he raised all in for 230,000. Gasperino Nicolas reraised all in from the next seat and everyone else folded, leaving Ewing to do battle with Nicolas for his tournament life.

Ewing: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}
Nicolas: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Nicolas' kings stayed in front. Neither player had a diamond, so there was no flush draw for either player.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and that left Ewing needing just a four, and a four only, on the river.

The {A-Spades} paired the board on the river and delivered the final blow to Ewing. He was eliminated just one spot short of the official final table and his bustout ended play for the night.

Nestola Leads Final Table; Negreanu Sits Fifth

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Daniele Nestola leading the way

It's all over — at least Day 3 that is. With the elimination of American Joshua Ewing in ninth place, the final eight players have bagged up their chips and are set to return tomorrow at noon local time here in São Paulo to play for the title.

Leading the way in a big way is German Daniele Nestola. He finished on 1.892 million in chips and has just about 600,000 more than Carlos Ibarra in second place. Vitor Torres will be the short stack, wrapping up with 273,000 in chips.

The biggest name at the final table belongs to Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu. This is Negreanu's first time ever making an LAPT cash and he's made the most of it so far by finding his way to the final table. In doing so, Negreanu has accomplished a feat that no other poker player has done.

Combining this final table with his EPT Vienna and APPT Sydney ones back in 2010, Negreanu is the only poker player to ever make a final table across all three of the PokerStars-sponsored tours. "Kid Poker" bagged up 702,000 in chips and will enter tomorrow fifth overall.
