Final Day of Malta Poker Festival Spring Grand Event Awaits as Erik Ostergaard Leads 12 Qualifiers
The curtains are about to come down on another hugely successful Malta Poker Festival at Portomaso Casino, with 12 players set to return at 1 p.m. local time for the final day of the record-breaking €600 Spring Grand Event, competing for the remaining share of the massive €684,390 prize pool.
Erik Ostergaard of Denmark (11,500,000) is in pole position to land the €141,900 first-place prize, starting the day with a decent lead over French pair Giuseppe Mazza-Boussemart (9,250,000) and Thibaut Thevenet (8,400,000).
Ostergaard and Mazza-Boussemart are seasoned professionals, while Thevenet has already secured his biggest ever recorded live score.
It is a tightly condensed field, and all of the returning players will feel they have a chance of lifting the trophy today, with relative short-stacks Riccardo Saraniero (1,925,000) and Federico Petruzzelli (2,850,000) certainly not out of contention.
