From middle position, Garreth Fields opened for 25,000. His neighbor Charlie Carrel three-bet to 75,000 and the action folded around back to Fields rather quickly. Fields four-bet to 175,000 and it didn't take long before Carrel five-bet to 337,000.
"You have it, you have it" Carrel said in a way that reminded us a bit of William Kassouf. "You have it, you have it" Carrel repeated.
"No, you have it" Fields replied.
Fields then pushed all in and Carrel mucked instantly.
"Did I make a bad read, or did I just got bluffed?" Carrel asked himself and the table in kind of disbelief.
David Boyaciyan, who triumphed in this event back in 2011 and finished runner-up to Ruben Visser in 2014, was down to a mere 70,000.
Not too long ago, he got his lucky break as he got it in with against the of Fabian Sperling. The board ran out and Boyaciyan doubled.
Like Boyaciyan, Michiel Brosky too doubled. He got it in with ace-four against the king-queen of Marius Gierse and faded all bad cards on a board of to double to 240,000.
Just before the break, Jakub Michalak got it all in for his last 151,000 holding against the of Rashed Zade.
The in the window was a good card, but the and that followed made things still exciting. The on the turn spelled bad things for Michalak and he departed after the hit the river as Zade and his straight claimed the pot.
From early position, Samuli Sipila opened and Jan Bendik defended his big blind.
The flop came and Bendik checked. Sipila bet 20,000 and Bendik check-raised to 50,000. Sipila called.
While the turn and river were blanks, Bendik fired away with bets of 47,000 and all in for 110,000 on the last community card.
Sipila called both times holding for flopped trips. Bendik showed for a worse kicker and muttered some bad words before he made his exit in 20th place.
Down to just 133,000, Charlie Carrel moved all in from the hijack. Action folded to Garreth Fields in the big blind and he contemplated what to do for a bit.
"I help you make comeback" Fields said.
"I need help, that's for sure" Carrel replied with a big smile.
"I help you!" Fields said before he called.
Garreth Fields:
Charlie Carrel:
The board ran out and Carrel doubled up.
"I donate to you, you do me a small favor back" Carrel said with an even bigger smile. "Next time, we have to do the colluding a bit more subtle, though" Carrel added.
Again a deep run, but no third final table for David Boyaciyan, no second title for the Dutchman in the most prestigious poker tournament in his country.
Boyaciyan moved all-in with pocket aces and Artur Koren called with ace-queen with the queen of clubs. The board showed four clubs and just like that, Boyaciyan made his exit in 19th place.
Down to just 89,000, Marius Gierse moved all in. Two positions over, in the cutoff, Abdelhakim Zoufri three-bet to 300,000. The button folded but Garreth Fields in the small blind asked how much Zoufri had behind. Zoufri counted 238,000 behind the line and Fields went back into the tank.
After several minutes, Koren asked for the clock. Before the floor could even come over, Fields flat called. The button threw his cards away immediately.
The flop came and Fields instantly announced all in. Zoufri called just as fast.
Abdelhakim Zoufri:
Garreth Fields:
Marius Gierse:
The on the turn and on the river were blanks and Gierse made his exit.
"Why didn't you just go all-in pre-flop?" Zoufri asked Fields while stacking the chips he just won, "You were gonna give me a heart attack!"
