Vos Leads the Final Nine Players into the Final Day with Schemion, O'Dwyer, and Satubayev Still In Too

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

With just over 36 minutes left in Level 22, play has come to a stop as the final table of the €4,300 Main Event has been reached at the Master Classics of Poker here at Holland Casino Amsterdam. Out of the fifty players who returned at the start of the day out of 346 entries, only nine have made it through to the final day. They are all still in the running for the first-place prize of €260,878 and the famous "bordje".

For the first time, there is a brand-new chip leader in Pascal Vos with 2,455,000 in chips. Vos took it away from Shyngis Satubayev in the biggest pot of the day. Compared to the earlier days, the whole podium consists of Dutch players with Kevin Paqué (1,970,000) and Johan Rensink (1,605,000).

Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

The six other players at the final table all represent a different country. Ole Schemion has won the Main Event here in Amsterdam before in 2012 when it still featured a buy-in of €5,250. Schemion laid claim to €286,200 for conquering a 212-strong field back then and could become the first two-time champion. Steve O'Dwyer is also still in with 29 big blinds. O'Dwyer is familiar with success here in Amsterdam, he took down an event here in March and won the €25,500 Super High Roller during the MCOP in 2018.

All nine remaining players are guaranteed at least €25,485 which won't be the biggest cash for any of the players. Out of Paraskevas Tsokaridis, Frederico Silva, Jan Bednar, and the Day 1a and Day 2 chip leader Shyngis Satubayev, the latter is the one who has collected the most cashes and possibly has the most experience. He closed a deal when they were three-handed in a High Roller in Monte Carlo in 2018 for €492,768. And that's just one of the many he has already collected.

Before the Final Table

The day started with 50 players in their seats but only 47 would be in the money. Bart Lybaert and Sonny Franco busted before the bubble and in the end, it would be Bas de Laat who would become the bubble boy after first having doubled up with queens versus the fours of Daniyar Aubakirov. He then called the shove of Bednar on the queen-trey-eight-four-nine board with ace-queen. Bednar had turned a set of fours to burst the bubble.

After the bubble burst, it was an all-in palooza all over the place. Players were doubling up and busting left, right, and center. Players like Paul Tedeschi, Marcel Vonk, Gary Hasson, Paul Hoefer, Jonathan Abdellatif, and Christopher Frank all busted during Day 3. Hassan Sey and Kimmo Kurko had both already won an event during the MCOP but failed to win their all-ins to make it two.

The Plan for Day 4

Play will continue until a winner has been crowned and the PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand to bring you all the action until the final all-in has been won.
