Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Kemal Aslan
Kemal Aslan

Celine Zimmerman opened to 1,800 from under the gun and was called by the hijack and Kemal Aslan in the cutoff.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Zimmermann continued for 5,000. The hijack would fold but Aslan made the call.

The {3-Clubs} put a third three on the board and both players would tap the table.

On the {4-Clubs} river, Zimmermann put out a bet of 10,000 that was snapped off by Aslan. Zimmermann tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} but it was no good as Aslan turned over {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a full house and the win.

Argyrou Hits Flush to Eliminate Opponent

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

There was roughly 12,000 in the middle on a {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board when Argery Argyrou put out a bet of 4,000 and his hijack opponent moved all in for 27,000. After the blinds folded, it came back to Argyrou who was visibly amused and took about 60 seconds before finally making the call, leaving about 10,000 chips behind.

Opponent: {8-Spades}{6-Spades}
Argery Argyrou: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Argyrou was slightly behind despite having a pair and a flush draw as his opponent had flopped two pair.

The turn brought the {k-Diamonds}, giving Argyrou the nut flush draw and his opponent was only drawing to a full house.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Argyrou chipped up to over 75,000.

O'Brien Rolling on Day 1b

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

With 5,100 in the middle on a {8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} board, James O'Brien put out a bet of 1,400. The small blind called and the big blind got out of the way.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and O'Brien continued for 3,000. The small blind called once more.

The {k-Hearts} did not stop O'Brien from firing the third barrel, this time for 6,000. The small blind deliberated for a few seconds and eventually folded.

O'Brien went deep in Day 1a but was unable to secure himself passage into Day 2. So far, he's having a successful run in Day 1b.

Yasen and Ossip Dealt Same Pocket Pair Twice in Under 30 Minutes

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Kevin Ossip
Kevin Ossip

An entertaining story was relayed to PokerNews from Table 2 as an extremely rare mathematical occurrence took place between Kevin Ossip and Yasen Dichev.

In two hands that took place in less than a 30-minute period, Ossip and Dichev were both dealt pocket kings and were later both dealt pocket tens and played to a showdown.

As the table is playing eight-handed, the odds of two players being dealt the same pocket pair at any one time is 1/174, which equals a 0.574% chance. The odds that this happens twice is 1 in 30,276 (0.0033%). The odds that these events would occur twice in a short span between the exact same opponents? Astronomical.
