Azamat Lamkov

Last May, Azamat Lamkov became the newest $5,300 Mediterranean Poker Party Main Event champion as he defeated a massive field of 1,260 entries at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel.

Fifth in chips at the beginning of the final table, Lamkov made his way to first place, surpassing players like Mihai Niste (6th, $170,000) and Leon Sturm (3rd, $440,000). Ultimately, Lamkov claimed victory over Kirill Shcherbakov, who finished in second for $680,000. Thanks to this win, Lamkov is not only the proud owner of a trophy, but he's also a millionaire with the $1,000,000 first-place prize.

Zhaparov Gets Counterfeited

Level 27 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Dauren Zhaparov limped from the small blind and Andrey Pateychuk raised to 1,500,000 out of the big blind. Zhaparov responded by moving all in for roughly 8,000,000 and Pateychuk snap-called.

Dauren Zhaparov: 33 All in
Andrey Pateychuk: KJ

Zhaparov was flipping for his tournament life and the flop landed 8109 to give Pateychuk a straight draw. The 9 turn brought some counterfeit outs, and the 8 river completed the board.

Pateychuk's king-jack played with the two pair on board to win the pot, and Zhaparov was heading to the rail. Pateychuk added even more chips to his already massive stack.

Pateychuk Claims Yazbeck's Bounty

Level 27 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Andrey Pateychuk min-raised from the button and Edmond Yazbeck jammed his 3,300,000 into the middle from the big blind. Pateychuk immediately called.

Edmond Yazbeck: J10 All in
Andrey Pateychuk: Q8

Pateychuk looked poised to claim another bounty and send the remaining players closer to the three-table redraw. The dealer put out a board of 7323Q to give Pateychuk the winner with a pair of queens, sending Yazbeck to the rail.

Pateychuk Takes Some from Stoika

Level 26 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Roman Stoika
Roman Stoika

Roman Stoika made it 800,000 to go from middle position and Andrey Pateychuk three-bet to 2,800,000 from the button. After the blinds folded, Stoika called to see a flop.

Stoika knuckled the table on the K52 flop and Pateychuk continued with a bet of 1,400,000. Stoika carved out the call.

The 3 came on the turn, and Stoika checked. Pateychuk put out a second barrel of 4,800,000, and Stoika called again.

Stoika checked for the last time when the 4 landed on the river, and after burning through one of his time bank cards, Pateychuk checked back.

Stoika flipped up K10 for a pair of kings, but was second best to the AK of Pateychuk for top pair that turned into a straight on the river.

Yang Bricks Out and Busts

Level 26 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

When it folded to Nariman Yaghmai in the small blind, he shoved to put Jun Yang all in from the big blind. Yang called with slightly fewer chips than Yaghmaie so he was the one at risk.

Jun Yang: KJ All in
Nariman Yaghmai: 66

Yaghmai would be left only a few big blinds if his sixes didn't hold up. The flop came down 532 to give Yang even more outs with a flush draw. But, the 10 turn and A river didn't help Yang, and he had to send all of his chips and bounty over to Yaghmai.
