Adrian Strobel Aiming for Back-to-Back Final Tables as 28 Return for Final Day of $2,200 Luxon Pay Grand Final

Adrian Strobel
Adrian Strobel

Today at noon local time, 28 players will return to the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa to crown a champion in the $2,200 Luxon Pay Grand Final, part of the 2025 Mediterranean Poker Party, to battle for the lion's share of the $2,787,840 prize pool. Among the survivors of the 1,452-strong field is Adrian Strobel, who will start the day third in chips with a stack of 23,600,000, nearly 60 big blinds.

This is not Strobel's first deep run in this event, as the Austrian grinder finished in ninth place last year, being the first one to be eliminated from the final table. His position near the top of the leaderboard grants him a good position to place higher this time as he, along with the others, will be aiming to capture the title and the $375,000 prize that comes with that honor.

Strobel still has quite some catching up to do to chipleader Dmitry Kukhtarev, however. The online player and poker streamer is putting on a breakout live performance, as this will be his first-ever recorded cash. Starting the day with 30,875,000, he has a sizable lead over Strobel and Alexandru Lupuleac, who sits in second place with 23,600,000.

Meanwhile, Day 1c chipleader Tymofii Savkin occupies the fourth spot on the leaderboard, while his Day 1a counterpart Konstantin Voronin ended Day 2 in seventh position. Triple Crown winner Niall Farrell (7,500,000), long-time Merit regular Alessio Isaia (6,500,000), and Romanian grinder Mihai Niste (2,025,000) find themselves in the bottom half of the standings, having secured $16,700 but hoping to spin up their stacks and make some pay jumps.

The levels will remain 50 minutes in length until the final table, at which point they will progressively decrease with each elimination. The live stream will follow the action on a two-and-a-half-hour delay, and the live report will follow suit so as not to spoil any action from the finale.

The road to crowning the Luxon Pay Grand Final champion will be a long and exciting journey, so stay tuned to PokerNews so as not to miss any of the Day 3 action.

Alessio Isaia
Alessio Isaia

Danil Umrikhin raised his button to 900,000, after which an all-in bet worth 6,125,000 followed from Alessio Isaia in the small blind.

Umrikhin asked for a count and flicked in a calling chip as soon as he received it.

Alessio Isaia: 87 All in
Danil Umrikhin: 77

Umrikhin had his opponent dominated, but Isaia made a straight on the 5J910 turn to leave Umrikhin drawing to a chop. The 4 river was of no use, however, seeing Isaia double up to an above-average stack.

Alessio Isaia raised to 800,000 in early position with A7. Alvaro Gonza decided to flat his AJ in the next seat, and the two went to a flop of QJ4.

Isaia continued for 800,000, which Gonza quickly called. The 5 fell on the turn and saw Isaia size up to 2,600,000. Gonza took another look at his cards before calling, seeing the 9 hit the river.

Isaia tossed in a time bank before deciding to shove all in for 11,000,000. Gonza asked for a count but ultimately let go of the better hand, forfeiting the pot to Gonza.

Wojciech Frankowski Eliminated in 23rd Place ($19,800)

Level 27 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Aleksandr Kirichenko raised to 1,000,000 in early position, after which the action folded to the short-stacked Wojciech Frankowski in the big blind. He committed his final 1,525,000 and was quickly called.

Wojciech Frankowski: A5 All in
Aleksandr Kirichenko: 66

Frankowski made a pair of fives on the 7Q35J runout, which was not enough to best Kirichenko's aces, eliminating him in 23rd.

Danil Umrikhin was down to 2,200,000, which he shoved in from the cutoff. Dmitry Kukhtarev made a quick call in the big blind, and the cards were tabled.

Danil Umrikhin: 1010 All in
Dmitry Kukhtarev: 44

Umrikhin was in a good spot to double up, even more so after the 9KQ flop. The 4 turn made Kukhtarev a set, however, leaving Umrikhin drawing slim.

The 5 river did not complete Umrikhin's straight or give him a higher set, sending him to the rail in 22nd.

Bassel Moussa open-jammed his stack of 5,500,000 from early position. It folded to Alvaro Gonza in the small blind, who rejammed for 8,000,000. Pablo Beltran sat in the big blind and snap-called, covering both opponents.

Bassel Moussa: AK All in
Alvaro Gonza: AQ
Pablo Beltran: AK

Gonza paired his queen on the JQ3 flop for a big lead. Moussa and Beltran needed a king or ten to chop the pot, but the runout came down 49 instead.

Gonza scooped the big pot, eliminating Moussa and leaving Beltran with a stack of less than three big blinds.

Aleksandr Kirichenko was on the button and raised to 1,200,000. Vlado Banicevic defended his big blind, leading to a flop of 9102 on the table.

Banicevic checked, and Kirichenko bet 1,700,000. Banicevic then jammed all in for 7,200,000, being snapped off by his opponent.

Vlado Banicevic: QJ All in
Aleksandr Kirichenko: K10
