Out of the 153 entrants registered in the 2023 Merit Poker Retro Series $10,500 High Roller at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino, there are only 22 players left on Day 3. But they are not in the money yet, as only 20 players will receive a minimum cash prize of $16,500. Once in the money, there will still be a long way to go to take the $350,000 first-place prize.
After Day 2, it is Maxime Chilaud who ended up as the chipleader with 1,895,000 chips. The winner of the 2023 Merit Poker Carmen Series Main Event will try to win a second main tournament here in North Cyprus. But to do so, they'll still have to beat Uri Reichenstein (1,570,000), Aleksandr Chernikov (1,555,000), or Damir Zhugralin (1,520,000), the other chipleaders.

With the shortest stack of only 50,000 chips, Tinay Aksoy needed some luck to reach the money. Unfortunately for him, luck wasn't on his side. When he moved all in from an early position, Hassan Barakat, sitting on the button, made the call.
Tinay Aksoy: 5♣5♦
Hassan Barakat: A♥J♠
Barakat hit an ace directly on the flop A♣9♣K♣Q♠8♥, securing the best pair and sending Aksoy to the rail. Following his elimination, the clock was stopped to initiate hand-for-hand play.

Damir Zhugralin opened in middle position and was called by Mustafa Biz in the big blind. On the flop 8♥K♣4♦, Zhugralin made a continuation bet of 80,000 and was called again.
The 7♠ came on the turn, and Zhugralin fired a second barrel of 175,000. Biz check-called once more. Finally, on the river 7♣, both players decided to check.
Biz revealed 8♠5♠, a two pair hand, which was the winning hand, as Zhugralin sent his cards into the muck.

Denis Kapustin and Oleg Ustinovich take their time with every decision they make. For example, it took a full minute for Kapustin to go all in from the big blind after Ustinovich opened to 50,000 from under the gun. However, Ustinovich folded.
A few hands earlier, it was Ustinovich's turn to three-bet against Kapustin. Yet, once again, the action didn't continue further.
