Pateychuk Picks Off Akin's Bluff
Level 16
: Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Alp Akin raised to 160,000 from early position before the player in the hijack three-bet to 240,000. Andrey Pateychuk cold-called from the big blind, and Akin also came along.
Three players saw the flop come down 4♠9♣3♥. Pateychuk checked, and Akin fired out 250,000. The hijack player folded, but Pateychuk called to see a turn.
Pateychuk check-called another bet of 250,000 from Akin on the 7♣ turn. Pateychuk checked for the last time when the board-pairing 9♥ hit the river. Akin fired again, this time for 500,000. Pateychuk looked back at his cards and then made the call.
Akin showed a bluff with A♦5♣ for just ace-high. Pateychuk had that beat with 5♥5♦ for just a pair of fives, and the pot was sent to him.
