Nawar and Balaev Tangle

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Viacheslav Balaev opened the button and Joseph Nawar defended his big blind to the 1046 flop, where Nawar check-called a bet of 3,500 from Balaev.

A 2 on the turn saw Nawar check again, then Balaev threw out 9,000. Nawar tossed in one white chip, worth 25,000, and intended to raise, but didn't say anything so it went down as a call.

When the 2 paired the board on the river, Nawar again tossed out a white chip, and this time the bet was for the full amount of 25,000. Balaev didn't need to think for too long before he folded, and Nawar took the pot.

El Patron Returns

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

For anyone scrolling the Day 1b chip counts and wondering why Hassan Nashar isn’t listed, don’t worry, he’s still here. After leading the way on Day 1a with 699,500, Nashar jumped back in today for another run. To avoid overwriting his qualified stack, he's been given a temporary alias.

Until the end of play, he’ll be appearing in the counts as El Patron. Same chips, same presence, just a new name for the day. He currently has around 600,000 to work with and is closing in on the number he bagged yesterday. At this rate, he just might top the leaderboard two days in a row.

While the wait starts to see if he can again top the field, here's a peek at his player card.

Ardic Spikes the River to Survive

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Senol Ardic

Senol Ardic is a very happy man right now after just spiking the river to stay alive.

Ardic shipped in his stack of almost 70,000 from the big blind over some initial action, and the button eventually dropped in a call.

Senol Ardic: QJ All in
Button: A7

It looked bleak for Ardic on the A10A flop as his opponent flopped trip aces, and the 5 turn left him with just one shot at four outs. Nonetheless, one shot was all he needed as the K on the river completed Ardic's Broadway draw, which earned him the double-up.

Ihlamur's Sevens Good at Showdown

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Osman Ihlamur opened the button to 5,000 and got three-bet by the small blind to 18,500. After the big blind folded, Ihlamur called.

Ihlamur called a bet of 11,500 on the 8Q4 flop and then knuckled all the way to showdown on the 89 runout.

The small blind showed AK for ace-high, but Ihlamur had a pair of sevens with 77 to take the pot.

Elsewhere, it didn't end well for Hassan Nashar aka El Patron in the closing level, as his stack of 600,000 was dusted off as he attempted to become the chip leader in back-to-back flights. But what an effort.
