Broda Picks Off the Bluff
Level 37
: Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
"Ma" limped in from the small blind and Richard Broda checked his option in the big blind to see a flop of 9♠5♣7♦. "Ma" bet 600,000, Broda raised to 2,200,000 and "Ma" called.
Both checked the 10♦ turn and when the 3♣ hit the river, "Ma" shoved. Broda had 5,400,000 behind and was in the tank for some time while he thought out loud.
"This could be it. My final hand, maybe," Broda said to "Ma". "I feel like I have to call," he added.
"What do you have?" asked "Ma".
"A nine, it's obvious, isn't it?" replied Broda.
"Sometimes you call and win, sometimes you call and lose," explained "Ma".
Eventually, Broda did call. "Ma" then tapped the table and showed a bluff with 8♣4♥, and Broda flipped 9♥6♥ for a pair of nines to scoop the pot.
