Voronin Surges Late

Konstantin Voronin started the day well, but lost a chunk of his stack back to starting. However, he's back with a stack of around 400,000, partly due to a hand he just played.

The board read 4♣Q♣2♣A♥ with around 35,000 in the pot, both Voronin and the cutoff checked to the 10♥ river. Voronin then threw out 25,000, and after some consideration, the cutoff called.

Voronin then showed two pair with A♣4♠. and that was good for the pot.

On a full board of J♣K♣A♦7♣9♣ with around 35,000 in the middle, Soraya Estrada checked from the cutoff. The player on the button thought for a while and ultimately decided to check it back, and was glad he did as Estrada flipped A♣3♣ for the nut flush.

The button flashed an A♥ as he mucked, wisely choosing not to bluff. On the other hand, Estrada is up to around 300,000 now late in the day.

The series at Merit Royal Diamond runs from August 9-21 and features a mix of Pot-Limit Omaha and No-Limit Hold'em high-stakes tournaments, along with some juicy cash game action. Giorgiy Skhulukhiya is still going on Day 1a, but just took a small hit to his stack.

The flop read 9♣3♦10♠ and once early position had checked to Skhulukhiya on the button, he fired 6,500 into a pot of around 20,000. He was then met with a check-raise to 18,000, which he quickly called.

Both then checked to showdown on the 8♠ turn and 9♥ river, where Skhulukhiya's opponent flashed J♠J♦ to scoop the pot.

There were around 27,000 in the pot on a flop of 8♣9♦8♦ when Orman threw out a bet of 10,000 from the small blind. That was enough to make his opponent on the button fold.

Maxime Chilaud is on the same table and has a stack of just under 400,000, while Danielle Noja just joined after being eliminated from the $5,300 High Roller, which just reached its final table.
