Hajj Chips Up Through Kala

Level 1 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

Alain Hajj raised to 1,300 under the gun with only Maciej Kacper Kala defending out of the big blind.

Once Kala knuckled the action to Hajj on the J68 flop, he fired a continuation-bet of 3,000. Kala paused briefly before making the call.

The 8 turn checked through for the 5 to roll off on the river. Kala checked for the last time, which allowed Hajj to bet 5,000. Kala folded and surrendered the pot to Hajj.

Picking up the action on a completed board of 7383A and with around 14,500 in the pot. Mustafa Ercan checked from the hijack and faced a bet of 2,500 by Roman Pshyk out of the cutoff. After a few moments, Ercan slid in the call.

Pshyk confidently revealed 108 for second pair, a pair of tens, and Ercan returned his cards to the dealer.

Day 1c of the $3,300 La Notte Degli Assi Main Event begins today at 12 p.m. local time inside the stunning Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino. With two flights already in the books, the total field has grown to 500 entries, and 229 players have secured a seat in Day 2.

The $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool is still within reach, and with two starting flights left to play, today promises to be another busy day on the tournament floor. Players will once again start with 100,000 chips and play eight levels, but today's blind levels are shorter at 40 minutes in length. Unlimited reentries remain available throughout the day.

Currently topping the leaderboard is Andrei Spataru, who bagged a huge 1,041,500 on Day 1a. He is followed by Claudiu-Mihai Burlacu (763,500) and Fahredin Mustafov (747,000), both of whom finished Day 1b at the top of the leaderboard.

Many players who fell short in earlier flights are expected to return today in search of a bag, while fresh entries will look to take advantage of the turbo format to build stacks ahead of Day 2. With late registration open until the end of Level 14 on Day 2, there is still time for players to jump into the action and try to spin it up.

Later this evening, the final starting flight, Day 1d, begins at 7:00 p.m. and will feature a hyper-turbo structure with 25-minute levels. It will be the last chance for players to run up a stack before the tournament advances to Day 2 on Tuesday, August 5.
