Event #19: $3,300 Main Event at the Merit Poker Carmen Series continues today as 142 players return for the third day of play. Each of those who retake their seat today will be looking to secure a portion of the $2,111,400 prizepool. With 89 places getting paid, those still in contention have work to do before they can realize a return on their investment. Play resumes at 12 p.m. local time at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino at which point the remaining players will battle it out before the money bubble bursts later in the afternoon. Regardless of when the bubble bursts, play today will consist of nine levels.

Maxime Chilaud of France enters the day at the head of the pack with 1,895,000, closely followed by the relatively unknown Efraim Tavdi on 1,861,000. Michael Magalashvili (1,766,000) of Israel rounds out the top three.

On the other end of the spectrum, several notables come into they day with short stacks and will have their work cut out for them. They include WSOP bracelet winner Ran Koller (201,000) and Romania's Florian Duta (105,000).

In general, stacks are still quite deep, with the average sitting at 538,732, good for 45 big blinds. With levels continuing to be 60-minutes in length, that should make for quite a bit of playability.

Play resumes at the start of Level 19 with blinds of 6,000/12,000 with a 12,000 big blind ante. Be sure to stay tuned as the PokerNews live reporting team continues to provide updates of Event #19: $3,300 Main Event through to its conclusion.

Michalak Wakes Up With Kings

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Jakub Michalak
Jakub Michalak

Jakub Michalak raised to 25,000 from early position and was called by Tim Schmitt before Volodymyr Drokin, in the small blind, reraised to 87,000.

Michalak then pushed all in for 240,000 and Drokin snap-called out of turn. He pulled his chips back as Schmitt folded, then called Michalak's shove.

Jakub Michalak: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Volodymyr Drokin: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Michalak's kings took down Drokin's queens to earn him a quick double up on Day 3.

Held Ousts Shalgi Early

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Justus Held opened to 26,000 from early position and was called by Jose Nehme in the cutoff. Joseph Shalgi then moved all in for 314,000 on the button and was called by Held. Nehme folded and Shalgi was officially at risk.

Joseph Shalgi: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Justus Held: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Shalgi had got his money in good and looked set to get off to a great start on Day 3. The {3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts} flop changed little, though the {8-Hearts} turn gave Held a flush draw. The {9-Hearts} river completed that draw to send Shalgi packing early in the day in cruel fashion.

Tulepbergenov Gets Quick Double

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Azamat Tulepbergenov moved all in for 138,000 from middle position as action folded around to Vadim Volkhonskiy in the big blind, who called to put him at risk.

Azamat Tulepbergenov: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Vadim Volkhonskiy: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Tulepbergenov took the lead on the {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop as Volkhonskiy flung his arms in the air in frustration. The board ran out {5-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Tulepbergenov stayed alive.

At the same time on another table, Recep Aydemir was an early casualty here on Day 3.

Minkov Doubles Through Skripkin

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Nikola Minkov opened to 24,000 from the cutoff only for Maksim Skripkin to three-bet to 81,000 out of the small blind. The big blind folded to send the action back to Minkov who moved all in for 186,000. Skripkin quickly called with the covering stack to put Minkov at risk.

Nikola Minkov: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Maksim Skripkin: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Minkov had found pocket rockets to set himself up well for a crucial double. The {6-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Spades} flop did give Skripkin a gutshot but the {a-Diamonds} turn and {7-Hearts} river completed a clean runout for the aces.

Dhar Busts, Kolotiuk Gets Away

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

"All in for two million," Rajendara Dhar said as he was all in for around 25,000 from the big blind. Action went back on Volodymyr Drokin in the cutoff, who reshoved as Roman Kolotiuk on the button tanked.

The clock was eventually called on Kolotiuk before he turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and flung it into the muck. Drokin showed him the {a-Clubs}, followed by the {a-Hearts} as he was a big favorite against Dhar's {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Dhar was eliminated, while Kolotiuk saved his tournament life with his big fold.

Elsewhere, Florian Duta, Ranno Sootla, and Milen Stefanov have all been eliminated.
