Previous Platinum Pass Runner Up Faring Well

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Justin Bateson finished runner up in the London leg of the tour at the Hippodrome last month and is here, hoping to do one better and go the distance for that coveted Platinum Pass this time round.

He is heading in the right direction after netting a large pot and eliminating an opponent in the process. He got it all in on a {4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop with {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and was up against {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}. Though behind, he still had an over and a flush draw to hit and he didn't have to sweat long, hitting an {8-Clubs} on the turn to give him the nuts.

Incidentally, he is sat next to Simon Green who also final tabled the same event at the Hippodrome, finishing in 7th place.

Green Busts Two

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Simon Green has just eliminated two opponents, one of which was Kanan Farzaliyev who had doubled in the first level of the day.

Action was on the flop with {3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} on display and Green led for 2,200 into three opponents. He faced a re-raise all in of 8,400 from Farzaliyev and then an all in over the top of 15,400 from another opponent. Green used a time-bank card before making the call.

Simon Green: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Kanan Farzaliyev: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Green was ahead at this point and it stayed that way on the {5-Clubs} turn and {k-Hearts} river. He chips up and it's back to the drawing board for his opponents.

Connell Reps Big

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

It was a multiway pot from the off, with an early position limp followed by a middle position raise to 1,100. Two players called behind before Andrew Connell called in the big blind and the limper stepped aside.

On the {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop, Connell checked to the preflop aggressor who made it 1,400 to continue. Four became two, with only Connell calling and the dealer put an {8-Hearts} on the turn.

Connell checked-raised his opponent's 2,200 barrel, making it 6,500 total and got a call. The last card was the {10-Clubs}, bringing a one-card straight possibility and Connell bet half pot for 10,000. It was a quick fold from his opponent and he has almost doubled his chips from what he started with at the beginning of the day.

Play Settles Down

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

After the early flurry of excitement and eliminations in the first couple of levels, play has settled somewhat in comparison. With 30-minute levels, this is unlikely to continue in the long-term but PokerNews will keep you informed whatever happens.
