£140 Main Event - Road to PSPC
Day 1c Completed
At the end of 15 half-hour levels here at Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City, William Miskelly made a late run for the chip lead and takes 470,000 through to Day 2 of the Main Event. That is precisely the same number of chips that PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker accumulated in Day 1a on Monday when he too finished the day as chip leader.
It was a closely fought battle up top for the last few levels and in the end, Miskelly knocked Timotheos ‘Tim Tim’ Timotheou off the top spot in the last 30 minutes. Timotheou still ended the day on a very healthy 447,000, which was good for second place. UK poker circuit regular Gary Miller (353,000) finished third and Stefan-Fabian Jivoin was a single chip away from hitting the 300k mark, taking through 299,000 for his efforts. Pongsapak Himathongkom (235,000) completed the top five.
Simon Green is still in contention, albeit with a short-stack of just 56,000. Green finished 7th in the London Hippodrome Leg of Moneymaker’s Road to the PSPC 2020 last month. He may be short stacked but he managed to survive where fellow final tablist Justin Bateson didn’t. Bateson took runner up position in the same tournament but will have to play another flight if he is to try and go one step further and win a Platinum Pass, after his exit earlier in the day.
All in all, there were 116 entries (70 unique) today and they generated £13,920 towards the prizepool, which makes a running total of £28,440. The 18 who survived when the curtain fell will return at 2pm on Saturday to play Day 2, with the third and final day taking place at 12pm on Sunday.
Tomorrow sees a slight change to the proceedings, with two flights taking place here in London (one at 12pm and one at 6pm), plus an additional flight at Aspers Casino Milton Keynes, which kicks off at 7pm. Stay tuned to PokerNews to keep up with all the action from tomorrow onwards, until a winner is crowned at the end of the week.

Players are bagging and tagging for the night. Stay tuned for the chip counts and a full recap of the day's action.
William Miskellly has soared to the top of the counts after picking off a bluff by one of his opponents. He gave PokerNews a brief rundown of what had happened. It began with Miskelly opening ace-jack and getting one call. The flop came ace-high. By the river, all the draws had bricked and Miskelly's opponent bet big, trying to take it down. The plan misfired, when Miskelly decided his pair of aces was good enough and made the call. That pot puts him up to close to half a million.
The clock has been paused as the floor announces the last three hands for this flight.
Getnet Kassa opened the button and Jay Patel got the last of his chips in. It was a total of 22,000 for Kassa to call, and he did.
Jay Patel:

The flop ran out a safe for the preflop favorite and Patel lives on.

Stefan-Fabian Jivoin was kind enough to recount the following hand that played out at the end of the last level.
There was an under-the-gun open to 8,500 and a flat call from Jack Palmer in middle position. Jivoin three-bet to 22,000 and Palmer was the only caller.
On the flop, Palmer checked and Jivoin set him all in. He tank-called with and saw the bad news when Jivoin turned over a set with pocket-threes. The rest of the board bricked and Jivoin has stormed up the counts, with 100,000 more than the average now.

With seven hours of play under their belts, players are now inside the last half an hour. That's just under 30 minutes to survive in order to survive to Day 2.
