Kebe Brings Some Back

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jimmy Kebe got off to a strong start but lost some chips in subsequent levels. He is heading back in the right direction though, after check-raising the flop in a three-handed pot. Jen Mason was playing the small blind and Kebe was in the big, with another player on the cutoff, who bet 3,500 into the pot. Mason folded but Kebe upped the price to 10,500 and it was good to take the chips.

Gluzov Flying

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

It had already been a very profitable day for Kamen Gluzov but it got better after he eliminated another player just now.

All the chips went in preflop with Gluzov holding {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, which was a long way ahead of his opponent's {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}. With no ten or combo draw on the {3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} board, Gluzov added another 25,000 or so to his stack.

Clouden with the Chip Lead

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A quick scout around the room after players have returned from their break and one player has moved ahead of the pack: Patrick Clouden. Interestingly, Clouden was previously spent a year working as an intern on the PokerStars podcast team. The first four hours of play have seen Clouden rise to well over 200,000, a feat no other player has achieved yet.

Fine Out

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Despite a strong start in the early levels of the day, the last hour or so proved to be problematic for Julie Fine, who saw her 90,000-chip stack dwindle before she was eliminated just before the break. There are still around two hours of late registration available if she wants to take another stab at winning a PSPC 2020 Platinum Pass.

Bateson Finds a Call

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

All the community cards were down and Graeme Bester and Justin Bateson were looking at a {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} board. Bateson checked and Bester bet 9,000 on the one-card-straight possibility board. Bateson didn't seem too happy about it but made the call anyway and it turned out to be the right decision, with his pair of tens good.

Justin Bateson: {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Graeme Bester: {5-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Samuel Wins Flip

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Mika Samuel was all in against one opponent and was flipping for the 40,000 or so pot with {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} against {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. The runout came {4-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and the pot brings Samuel stack in line with the average.
