Triple Through for Constantiou

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Two very short stacks picked up offsuit aces at the same time and their chips flew in preflop, with the deep-stacked big blind giving them both a spin for under five big blinds.

Xenophon Constantiou: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Sidney Button: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Big blind big stack: {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Button picked up £230 for his efforts.

Hussein on a Tear: Murdoch Latest Victim

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Haji Hussein, last night's chip leader, is up over 800,000 after eliminating Joss Murdoch. He opened to 22,000 and his neighbour Murdoch jammed for 138,000 with {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. When it folded back to Hussein, he called at lightspeed with {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}. The board of {q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} changed nothing.

Murdoch still has his Platinum Pass Experience coming up at Aspers in London, to which he also won his seat online. The Experience is a single table live tournament with £16,000 in prize money; the Moneymaker Tour Main Event has been a good warm-up for him.

Matheson's Ace Dominated

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Down to just 56,000, Blair Matheson jammed preflop with {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, picked off by Andrew Mackenzie with the dominating {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The {10-Spades} on the flop sealed the deal.

Huge Pot for Watt

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Alerted to a big raise on the river of a {2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} board, we found Robert Watt all-in vs. Saifur Chowdhury, who'd bet 100,000 into a pot of over 150,000. Chowdhury had bet 50,000 on the {a-Diamonds} turn, which Watt had called. After a minute of so, Chowdhury announced "call".

Chowdhury: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for a flopped set.
Watt: {4-}{4-} - the rivered wheel.

"I couldn't fold," said Chowdhury as he headed to the exit, the Day 1b chip leader's last 57,000 not lasting long.

Ponomarev Puts Fraser to the Test

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
MacIntyre: gave it a go
MacIntyre: gave it a go

Heads up to a {5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop, Fraser MacIntyre (who'd called Nikolay Ponomarev's open in the small blind) checked, and received a check back. He led out on the {5-Diamonds} turn, Ponomarev calling. The river brought the {8-Hearts} and a bet out of 51,000 - a third of MacIntyre's stack. After a short think, Ponomarev set him all in, and he passed quickly.

Bubble Bursts at Start of Level 16

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Elizabeth Cape is the last player to leave the Main Event without a slice of the prizepool in her pocket. She opened preflop to 15,000 called by the button and small blind Haji Hussein.

Flop: {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Hussein checked, Cape continued for 20,000; call.

Turn: {9-Spades}. Hussein checked again, Cape bet 45,000 and Hussein set her all in (putting 170,000 in front of him). She made the call, showing down {a-Spades}{k-Spades}, while Hussein tabled {3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. The river was the {9-Diamonds}, Hussein's baby full house taking the pot and bursting the bubble.

Connor-Hartley's Kings Cracked

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Luc Connor-Hartley got the last of his chips in preflop with {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} vs. the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} of Christopher Stringer, but the {a-Spades} on the turn ended his hopes of a double.

Ulhaq Busts Nasir

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

"Chris [Fraser]! Chris! I'm in trouble!" So shouted Hamza Nasir in the direction of the cash table when his under the gun plus one shove of 54,000 with {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} was called by Usman Ulhaq with {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}. The board of {3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs} was no help.
