Stancer Busts Corlett to Cement Monster Chip Lead

Level 10 : 800/1,500, 1,500 ante
Stancer in a commanding lead
Stancer in a commanding lead

Consistently counted in the top five in chips all day, Daniel Stancer now has an official monster stack, having just seen off Matthew Corlett. On the river, with a big decision, Stancer was looking at the {j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs} board and the river jam from his opponent (it looked to be around 32,000). Eventually he threw in a chip signifying the call and Corlett showed down {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Stancer's top pair top kicker ({a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}) was good to bust his opponent, who said, "I didn't think you were that strong. Nice call."

Ponomarev Triples Up, then Polishes Off Dunwoodie

A three-way all-in breathed new life into the stack of Nikolay Ponomarev in Level 11 as his {a-}{10-} hit two tens to beat {7-}{7-} and {q-}{q-} and hand him a just-under-average 65,000.

Soon thereafter, the active Thomas Dunwoodie got his last few chips in preflop with {10-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, called by Ponomarev with {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Dunwoodie spiked a jack on the flop, but Ponomarev caught the {a-Spades} on the river to bust him.

Stancer Busts Mulhall; Described as "Hoover"

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Daniel Stancer, chip leader (and apparent "chip hoover" too) raised to 10,000 after an under the gun limp from Stephen Harris. Over to Dominic Mulhall, who moved all in for 32,000. The blinds and Harris cleared out of the pot, and Stancer snap-called.

Stancer: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Mulhall: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and an unfortunate spot with a premium hand sees the last of Mulhall (for today, at least).

Pynn's Number Up

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

A bad run for Adam Pynn in the last few levels has ended with a final beat from Matthew Gray. Moving all in preflop with {a-}{k-} for around 40,000, he was called by Gray with {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}. He held over the {4-Clubs}{10-Spades}{k-Hearts} flop, but the middle pin {j-Hearts} on the turn gave Gray the broadway straight. Hopes of tying died with the {j-Diamonds} river and Pynn headed to the rail with a "gee gee" to the table.

Tablemate Will Lawrence expressed sympathy for Pynn's run: "He lost king-queen to king-ten before, too. He got it in great - he'd have 100k now."

Stringer Bluffed, Then Victorious with Three-Outer

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Stringer in a late bid for chip dominance
Stringer in a late bid for chip dominance

Christopher Stringer has flown under the radar somewhat today, action-wise, but his stack is now over 300,000 after his elimination of Will Lawrence.

The hand prior, he'd been check-raised off a heads up flop of {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts} by Nikolay Ponomarev (9,000 to 22,000) only to be shown {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a bluff - apparently because the hand was being recorded.

Unfazed, and still with a stack of 280,000, Stringer called when Lawrence jammed preflop under the gun plus one (after a limp) for 23,500.

Stringer: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Lawrence: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The flop was safe for the all-in player - {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} - as was the {8-Diamonds} turn, but the {j-Diamonds} popped out on the river to bust him.

"F***ing hell, there's a lot of jacks, like," noted Lawrence, before wishing the table well and exiting.
