Lu Busts Garrett

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Chun Hock Lu
Chun Hock Lu

Chun Hock Lu is maintaining his chip lead as Level 11 draws to a close, recently adding Brendan Garrett's stack of 38,300 to his own after an all-in preflop race.

Three limps for 2,000 (including from Lu on the button) prompted a preflop shove from Garrett with {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. Lu had flatted pre with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, called the shove and held over the {5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} runout.

Farrell Calls in Four-Card Straight to Secure a Double Up

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Niall Farrell, back from his outing, was down to roughly 30,000 when he moved in preflop vs. Vita Lockhart. She made the call quickly, showing {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} while Farrell tabled {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} saying, "I can win with that."

His words proved prescient. The flop brought {3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Farrell immediately said, "straight." The turn was the {2-Clubs} and sure enough the river the {6-Clubs}.

"If anyone is wondering how someone as f***ing awful as I am has made a living for the past ten years, that's how," he said.

Reid Surges into Lead

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

A mid position player moved most of his stack in preflop (33,000) with just shrapnel remaining behind. There was a little confusion as Deborah Reid attempted to both call and go all in (possibly having mistaken her opponent's move for a full shove), but in the end it was taken that stacks were, in fact, all in the middle and the cards were on their backs. Reid held {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, her opponent {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

"No nine," she requested. The board of {2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} obliged.

Since moving to her new table she says she's been on a heater, having suffered card death for most of the early stages of the day.

Foord vs. Murdoch, Blind vs. Blind

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Joss Murdoch
Joss Murdoch

Joss Murdoch, who won his seat into this Main Event online, has doubled through Martin Foord after a blind-on-blind confrontation that started slowly.

Caught from the {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, Murdoch checked and Foord threw in a single 5,000 chip. Murdoch called, then checked the {q-Diamonds} turn. Foord now bet 12,000, and Murdoch swiftly check-raised all in for 50,500. Foord thought for a while, then pushed his stack forward indicating his call.

Foord: {4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Murdoch: {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The {a-Spades} on the river put Foord's two pair in second place, and they effectively swapped start-of-hand stacks.

Huge Double Propels Hussein to Chip Leadership

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

A big river countdown of Haji Hussein's stack attracted attention to a hand that had already concluded but has completely changed the top of the counts. With over 100,000 already in the pot on the turn (the board reading {j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, Andrew Hayton and Hussein had played for stacks (110,000 more, with the former covering the latter). Hayton, who'd flopped a set of sevens, had gone behind on the turn when Hussein made a club flush. The board remained unpaired with the {10-Clubs} river, and we have a new chip leader at the eleventh hour of Day 1d.
