Procopio Doesn't Realize He's Eliminated

Down to 43,000 chips, Vincent Procopio was looking for action. He moved all in and was pleased when the player on the button called.

"Beautiful!" he said. "Thank you. Someone else call too." Nobody else did.

"I've got a pair," said Procopio, showing {4-Spades} {4-Diamonds}.

"We're racing," replied his opponent. He opened {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}.

"Let's race then," Procopio said with a smile. On the {6-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} flop, he remarked, "I got by that." He repeated that statement on the {9-Diamonds} turn, then added, "No six!"

The river fell {J-Hearts} to give Procopio's opponent a flush. He didn't see it and sat back down at the table, thinking that his 4s had held up. It took about 30 seconds before the dealer pointed out the flush.

Procopio was very good-natured about his error. "I'm just looking at the cards," he said with a laugh. "I didn't even see he was suited." He then shook hands withe veryone at the table and headed off to the payouts area.
