Small Loss for Turner

With the flop reading {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Jared Davis checked, as did William Van Ormer. Jon Turner was on the button and bet 17,000. Davis called and Van Ormer folded.

The turn card was the {K-Diamonds} and Davis checked before Turner checked behind.

The river came the {K-Spades} and Davis fired 18,000. After a little hesitation, Turner mucked his hand. He dropped to 160,000 as Davis picked up the pot.

Harder Busto on the Bubble

Short-stacked Christian Harder moved in from the button. Martin Medina looked down at {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} and decided it was good enough to call. Indeed it was; Harder's {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} was behind. He out-flopped Medina, {K-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {9-Spades}, but the turn {8-Diamonds} and river {A-Spades} give Median two pair, aces and eights. That was the winner, knocking Harder out.

Christina Lindley, also seated at the table, stood up to give Harder a hug. Then Harder walked away from the table and called out to a friend in a different part of the room.

"Busto," he said with a shrug.

Nam Le Increases

Joe Cutler checked from the big blind position on the flop of {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Nam Le was in the cutoff seat and bet 24,000. Andy "BKiCe" Seth was on the button and called. Cutler folded.

The turn added the {9-Hearts} and Le bet 36,000. Seth tanked for a minute or two and then folded his hand, allowing Le to add a decent pot to his stack.

Marcus Busts

Van Marcus was recently eliminated when his {A-?}{K-?} lost to an opponent's {A-?}{Q-?}. The opponent held the {Q-Diamonds} and three diamonds flopped. He went on to river a queen. All of the money went in preflop.

Bubble Time!

130 players remain in the tournament. 128 will be paid. After the next elimination, tables will play hand-for-hand until the bubble is burst.

Bubble Pot Drama

Jon Turner
Jon Turner
Jon Turner has had a very up-and-down tournament. As we approach the bubble, he's fighting to stay alive in the tournament. Sitting in the big blind, Turner called a raise to 10,500 from button player William Van Ormer. Both players started the hand with roughly 140,000 chips.

Turner checked an {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} flop to Van Ormer, who quickly bet 15,000. Turner called, and then was much, much slower to check-call another 30,000 after the {5-Diamonds} turn.

At the {10-Diamonds} river, each player had roughly 85,000 chips left. Turner had to act first. He checked. Van Ormer thought things over and then put his last 85,000 in the middle. Turner just flipped his cards into the muck.

Still Searching for a Bubble Burster

We're stuck at 129 players, with nobody wanting to be the last player not to cash. There was a lengthy hand at Ted Lawson's table a few moments ago. Lawson, with 170,000 chips left in his stack and 130,000 in the pot, was facing a bet of 100,000 from Alexis Cordova. The board showed {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {4-Spades} {k-Clubs} and Lawson was clearly pained. After roughly two minutes in the tank, he open-mucked {5-Hearts} {5-Spades}.

As the dealer pushed the pot to Cordova, Lawson tried to reach over and pull the top two cards off of the stub in order to rabbit-hunt for the river. The dealer deftly pulled the stub away from Lawson, but Lawson still tried to grab the cards anyway. A floor supervisor was watching the table.

"TED!" the floor yelled sternly. "Don't do that again."

Late Break News

The first level is over, but since they're still hand-for-hand, the clock is paused at zero. They'll play until they burst the bubble and then take the scheduled 15-minute break.

Pop!

With little fanfare, Daniel Schreiber got his short stack into the middle and was called. He wasn't able to avert the elimination and is officially the 129th-place finisher. The rest of the field is now in the money.

The tournament is now on break. During the break, the black (100) chips will be colored up and raced off. Additionally, the entire field is undergoing a table re-draw. When the players come back from the break, their chips will be in a rack and there will be eight seat cards on the table to draw.
