Kanme Goes Ballistic
Holding K♠Q♥, Matthias Lipp raised to 600,000 from the button, and Raoul Kanme defended from the big blind with K♥8♥.
Kanme checked the 10♥6♠Q♣ flop, and Lipp fired for 825,000. Kanme went for the most aggressive option, check-raising to 2,150,000, which Lipp called.
Kanme saw the 4♦ roll off on the turn, which didn't deter him as he carved out a bet of 3,600,000. Lipp peeked back at his cards, used a time bank, and then made the call.
The 2♦ completed the board, and Kanme jammed. Lipp had the covering stack with around 10,000,000, just a few big blinds more than Kanme. Call or fold, this was the biggest pot of the tournament so far.
Lipp agonized over the decision for quite some time, throwing in time bank after time bank, all the while fiddling with an elastic band.
Around three minutes later, Lipp returned his cards to the dealer, and Kanme windmilled the king-eight across the table for a stone-cold bluff.
Lipp could only smile and see the funny side as Kanme dragged in the monster pot, with his stack climbing to more than double that of his closest competitor, Lipp.
