Yu Outflops Zhu

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Teng Zhu had opened to 8,000 but was then three-bet all-in to 73,000 by Jiangiang Yu. When it folded back to Zhu he asked for a count, and discovered he'd be left with just 6,000 should call and lose. That's exactly what happened.

Zhu matched Yu's shove holding {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}, and that was crushing Yu's {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. But when the dealer laid the flop, the first card in the window was the {9-Clubs}, followed by the {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} to give Yu a full house. He's up to 153,000 now.

Xu Sets Up Wang

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Fuk On Wang just took a big hit at the hands of tablemate Yahui Xu, having had the misfortune to find himself on the wrong side of a set over set confrontation. We picked up the action in a three-way hand involving Sheng Chen (UTG+2), Xu (cutoff) and Wang (small blind) with the flop spread {9-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

Wang was first to act and had checked the action over to Chen, who led out for 12,000 into a pot of close to 30,000. Xu then re-raised to 30,000 and the action was back on Wang, who looked like he might raise, but then just called. Chen folded to take the action heads-up to a turn of {k-Diamonds} and this is when all the chips went in.

Wang shoved and was called immediately, and while he turned over {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} he was trailing to Xu's {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and there was no miracle one-outer on the river. That saw Wang drop to 70,000, while Xu climbed to 200,000.

Wang on the Way Down, Zhang on the Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Wayne Zhang
Wayne Zhang

Things are not going Fuk On Wang's way with Wayne Wei Yi Zhang the latest member of the field to take some of his chips. If it continues this way Wang could be heading off, rather than on.

It was Wang who opened the action with a raise to 7,000 from under-the-gun with a player calling in the small blind before Zhang peeked down at his cards in the big blind. They must have been good, as Zhang squeezed to 25,500 to send Wang deep into thought, where he remained for a few minutes. Eventually, he elected to fold, as the small blind, leaving Zhang free to rake in close to 20,000 in blinds and antes, all without showdown.

Zhang Up And Down, Chen Just Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Hao Chen
Hao Chen

An enormous pot has sent Hao Chen skyrocketing up the chip counts at Yang Zhang's expense.

Zhang had opened to 9,000 before Chen three-bet to 50,000. The short stack of Jutong Hou called all-in, and when it got back to Zhang he moved all-in for 230,000. Chen had 191,000 total, and he called all-in too.

Yang Zhang: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Chen: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Hou: {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The {4-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop didn't change much, but it did give Hou a gutshot. The {7-Spades} turn made things interesting, as Hou could now hit a seven or jack to survive, while Chen could hit any spade or a queen.

The river? {k-Spades}.

Zhang had rivered a set, but it was no good as Chen completed his flush, sending Hou out and crippling Zhang down to just 27,000.

In the very next hand, Shuang Qing Chen opened to 7,000 and Quan Gang Ma called. Zhang then moved all-in, Chen isolated for 57,000, and Ma folded. Zhang had {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and was flipping against Chen's {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and after the {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades} runout paired Zhang he doubled up.

Walton Straightens Out Xiao

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

A nasty runout has just sent Jing Chao Xiao packing.

He was all-in holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Austin Walton had him covered with {j-Spades}{10-Spades}. The {7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs} gave Walton a gutshot, while the {q-Clubs} improved his chances to an open-ender. He'd hit the straight on the {k-Spades} river, and Xiao said his goodbyes.

Walton is up to 240,000 now.

Tang Tested

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Danny Tang
Danny Tang

Zhang Li Fen put Danny Tang through the ringer just now, pressuring him with a decision for his tournament life.

Fen opened to 9,000 on the button after action had folded to him, and Tang three-bet it to 26,500 from the small blind. Back to Fen, he made the call and the dealer spread a {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop. Tang decided not to continuation bet, and checked it to Fen who instantly announced all-in. He had the bigger stack, so this bet was for all of the 70,000 Tang had behind.

He thought. Then he thought some more. Then the two players started talking (in Chinese of course, so sorry for the lack of transcript). The clock was eventually called on Tang, and after around 30 seconds he laid it down.

Fen increases his stack to 371,000 after that one. And speaking of increasing stacks, Yan Shun Feng has now overtaken Ivan Leow at the top of the counts, currently sitting with 500,000.
