Irish Open Day Three - In the Money But a Long Way to Go

The remaining 64 players reconvene shortly to play their third day of poker here at the Irish Open. While most of the 700 starting runners are now busying themselves with side events, cash games, or just thronging the rail, these players are vying for a final table spot, and a shot at the €600,000 first prize.

Heading the pack are Andy Bradshaw and Lee Brooke-Pearce tying for the lead, trailed by earlier chip leader Andrew Pantling. Rising fast in the latter part of yesterday was Atanas Gueorguiev, and the top ten in chips are tightly bunched: it's anyone's guess who'll come out on top. They're guaranteed at least €3,500 at this point, but it's going to be a tough battle for the final table and its accompanying televised glory. The atmosphere is already electric -- expect action to kick off within the hour.
