More Confusion At Marcus' Table

There was some more confusion and wouldn't you know, it came from Van Marcus' table.

From the cutoff seat, Marcus raised to 3,000. The button flatted and they were off to a flop of {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Marcus fired a continuation bet for 5,000 and his opponent called.

The turn brought the {8-Clubs} and Marcus fired 14,000. His opponent called again.

The river completed the board with the {6-Hearts} and this is where things got a little iffy. Marcus bet 25,000 and his opponent announced what couldn't be understood as either "call" or "fold" because of his accent, tabling the {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. The tournament director was right there at the table waiting to break it after this hand was over so he heard and saw all of this. Marcus opened his {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} and was a little confused. He thought that the player might have called his 25,000-chip bet with just queen high, but the player said, "No, I said fold. Fold." Marcus nodded his head and scooped the pot.

Upon leaving the table, Marcus said he didn't know what to think. He said if the player had done the same thing with a hand like {Q-}{10-}, he'd have made him put the 25,000 in.

At any rate, he's back to 220,000 now.
