Rockets Serve Silberzweig

Michael Franceschetti
Michael Franceschetti

Some more short-stack shoving to report from Table 34, as Michael Franceschetti just open-raised all in again from under the gun, then Matthew Silberzweig called all in for 19,800 from a seat over. It folded back around, Franceschetti showed {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, and Silberzweig {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

The board came {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, and Silberzweig survived.

Davis Sinks Silberzweig

Brian Davis
Brian Davis

Moments after doubling up with pocket aces, Matthew Silberzweig's tournament run has come to an end after losing a preflop all-in versus Brian Davis.

After Davis raised from middle position, it folded around to Silberzweig in the small blind who reraised all in for 31,500 total. Upon receiving a count of Silberzweig's chips, Davis — today sporting an eye-catching silvery shirt that resembles fish scales — made the call.

Silberzweig turned over {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}, and Davis tabled his {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. The flop intriguingly came {K-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}, provoking an audible response from the others. Two pair for Davis, but flush and straight draws for Silberzweig. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and river the {3-Diamonds}, and Silberzweig was eliminated.

"I thought it was a bluff," said Davis afterwards. "I thought he had like 7-8 suited or something."

"Still a sick call," answered Ayman Sawaged with a chuckle from across the table.

Backdoor Flush Equals Exit for Gilbert

Jim Gilbert began today with a short stack, and just now was all in and at risk in a hand that began with a Paul DiMinno open from middle position. Michael Franceschetti followed with an all-in shove from late position, then Gilbert called all in from the blinds and DiMinno folded.

Gilbert: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Franceschetti: {K-Spades}{6-Spades}

The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Gilbert appeared in good shape to double up and survive. But the turn was the {A-Spades} and the river the {10-Spades} bringing a backdoor flush for Franceschetti and sending Gilbert railward.

Baumstein Busts

Scott Baumstein
Scott Baumstein

After running into the pocket kings of Michael Schoultz in a 200,000+ chip pot, Scott Baumstein was down to about 15,000 when he got the last of his chips into the middle with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} against Naveen Chettipally's {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Baumstein hit the flop well when it came down {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, but the {5-Hearts} ripped off on the turn to leave Baumstein drawing dead.

Brady Bounced

Matt Brady
Matt Brady

Matt Brady battled with a short stack through the first half of Level 11, but just now saw his Sands Bethlehem DeepStack Extravaganza Main Event run come to an end following a hand versus Frank Fratzola.

The hand saw Brady open-raise all in from middle position for about 17,000, then Fratzola reraised from the button to force the blinds to step aside. Brady showed {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}, but had run into Fratzola's {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, and after the board rolled out {3-Spades}{K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}, Brady was done.

Tens Fail Palmer

Following a Ketan Pandya opening raise from middle position, Jared Palmer pushed all in from the small blind and Pandya called.

Palmer had {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and was racing versus Pandya's {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, and Palmer was winning the race through the {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} flop and {2-Clubs} turn. But the river brought the {A-Spades} to pair Pandya, and Palmer was eliminated.

We've seen a lot of action early here on Day 2, with a dozen players falling within the first 45 minutes. There are 58 players remaining.

Klodnicki Gets There to Eliminate D'Angelo

Ryan D'Angelo exits
Ryan D'Angelo exits

After his original table broke, Chris Klodnicki was moved to the direct left of Ryan D'Angelo. It wasn't long before the two went to battle.

Action folded to D'Angelo in the small blind and he raised to 3,600. Klodnicki three-bet to 8,600 from the big blind, but found himself faced with a D'Angelo four-bet to 23,600. After a few moments Klodnicki five-bet to 123,600. D'Angelo wasn't thrilled, but call all in for about 90,000 with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

That was ahead of Klodnicki's {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, but the board fell {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{K-Diamonds} as Klodnicki spiked a king on the river to score the elimination.

Allen All In, Doubles Through Klodnicki

Richard Allen
Richard Allen

A big hand just took place between Richard Allen and Chris Klodnicki over on Table 47. The action heated up on the turn with the board showing {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. That was the point when all of Allen's stack found its way in the middle, with Klodnicki holding {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} (trip treys) while Allen had turned a full house with {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

The river was the {10-Hearts}, and Allen is now up over 240,000 while Klodnicki slips back to about 135,000.
