Werezak Doubles, Cartwright Survives

Level 9 : 300/600, 600 ante

On the first of two hands from the same table, action was on the flop of {q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Fred Werezak was facing a shove from Mike Cartwright. Werezak hit the tank hard, checking and rechecking his cards several times, slamming his card protector back down on top of them each time.

Werezak's life was on the line, as Cartwright had a bigger stack, but he finally tossed in the call. He was ahead with {k-}{j-} versus the {k-}{9-} of Cartwright, and the rest of the board was clean, sending the pot to Werezak and leaving Cartwright with just 5,750 remaining.

The very next hand, Cartwright was all in and called from the button. He was in rough shape with a dominated ace-six versus the ace-jack of his opponent, but he rivered two pairs on the {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board to survive.
