Iron Cracks McClymont's Kings

Level 8 : 250/500, 500 ante

The flop read {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Peter Iron went all in. Kimberly McClymont made a quick call, and tabled with best hand with pocket kings against the nine-eight of Iron.

Poker is a fickle game, however, as the turn came {9-Diamonds} to give Iron trips, and the {a-Spades} river was no help to McClymont's kings, and she was forced to double Iron up.

Second Break is Over

Level 9 : 300/600, 600 ante

Players are back in the Tatanka Tipi Room after their second break of the day. Action continues in Level 9 with blinds at 300/600/600.

The end of the second break also means registration for Day 1a is now closed. No prize pool numbers will be available today, as tomorrow's Day 1b numbers still need to be factored in, but once the tournament staff update the entries for \day 1a, an update will be posted. While current numbers show 128 entries, that number is sure to climb, and it looks likely that 2018's Day 1a total of 134 will be surpassed.

Berscht Best in Blind Battle

Level 9 : 300/600, 600 ante

There was no betting until it got around to James Berscht in the small blind. He elected to limp in, but Jim Loudon in the big blind had other ideas, bumping it up to 2,000.

Berscht called, and the flop came {2-Spades}{a-Spades}{6-Spades}. Berscht checked and Loudon fired out another 2,000. Berscht called to see {4-Hearts} turn and the check-bet-call action was repeated.

The river came {6-Hearts} and both players checked. Berscht rolled over {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Loudon mucked, showing the {q-Spades} as he passed his cards to the dealer.

Clark Squeezes for the Win

Level 9 : 300/600, 600 ante

Action opened with three limps in front of Sy Clark in middle position. He considered the spot, and counted out a big raise to 5,200 and tossed it in.

No one else was interested in seeing a flop for that price, so Clark took it down uncontested.

Total Entries Surpass 2018's Day 1a Number

Level 10 : 400/800, 800 ante

The numbers have all been crunched, and a total of 143 entries were recorded for Day 1a this year. That tops last year's total of 134 by nine entries, and bodes well for the final prize pool tomorrow.

Prize pool numbers will have to wait until the end of registration tomorrow, but its already looking like the pool will be deep.

Norlander's Eights Hold

Level 10 : 400/800, 800 ante

Trevor Norlander opened the action from middle position with a raise to 1,600. Kimberly McClymont shoved for 12,475 from the next seat over, and it folded back to Norlander.

Norlander tanked for half a minute or so before he elected to put in the call. His pocket eights were marginally ahead of the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} of McClymont, but when he flopped a set on the {4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs} board, it was all over. McClymont turned chop outs, but they never came in, and she was done for the day.

Dinner Break

Level 10 : 400/800, 800 ante

Players are off for an hour's break while they partake in the supplied buffet dinner. Action returns in an hour for Level 11 with blinds at 500/1000/1000. Once dinner break is complete, there will be six more levels in the day.
