Vang Building Early

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

We came upon the action with Kou Vang re-raising preflop to 1,900 from the big blind with three players having chips already committed (from middle position, hijack and small blind). All three players called Vang's raise.

The small blind player checked the {k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop before Vang continued for 2,300. After all his opponent's folded, Vang was awarded the pot causing one opponent to remark, "That's how you play AQ." Vang smiled and began adding the chips to his healthy stack.

Wilkie on Wrong End of Set-Over-Set

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Steve Wilkie
Steve Wilkie

Colorado's Steve Wilkie opened for 500 from early position and Tom Puente called from the small blind. The player in the big blind came along as well and it was three-way action to the {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop.

Two checks saw Wilkie continue for 1,100 and Puente woke up with a check-raise to 2,500. The big blind folded, Wilkie popped it back to 7,000, and Puente four-bet to 15,000. Wilkie then five-bet jammed all in Puente called off to create a 76,500 pot.

Steve Wilkie: {7-}{7-}
Tom Puente: {10-}{10-}

It was a cooler set-over-set flop and Wilkie was on the wrong end of it. Neither the {6-Hearts} turn nor {j-Clubs} river helped him, and Puente shipped the double while Wilkie hit the rail shortly thereafter.

Paris Saved on the Turn

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a flop of {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Joseph Paris bet 3,000 from middle position and was raised to 25,000 by the player in the hijack. A third opponent on the button, considered his options before folding. With 15,600 remaining, Paris made the call and tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, but was shown the bad news as the other player flipped over his two pair with {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

Although in tough shape, Paris was saved as the {3-Hearts} was revealed on the turn, improving him to a better two pair, which held as the {5-Spades} completed the board.

Runner Runner for Barros

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Brian Barros
Brian Barros

As the dealer was collecting 1,400 from each of four players, we joined the action in time to see the {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop.

The under-the-gun player led for 1,000 and was called by Brian Barros in middle position and the player in the hijack. The player in the cutoff folded.

On the {q-Diamonds} turn, the first two players checked before the player in the hijack bet 2,800. Both the under-the-gun player and Barros made the call.

After the {8-Diamonds} river, the player in the hijack bet his entire remaining 6,000 chips without waiting for action from the other players. Barros asked for clarification that if it is checked to that player, his bet remains. The dealer clarified that he was correct. After both players checked, the all-in became official. The under-the-gun player folded and Barros quickly called with his {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, besting his opponent's {8-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

Barros counted his chips and declared, "Back to starting boys!"

Brinn Takes on "Bigboyyyyy"

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Jason "Bigboyyyyy" Yeung
Jason "Bigboyyyyy" Yeung

The under-the-gun player limped before Cody Brinn did the same next to act. Jason "Bigboyyyyy" Yeungthen raised to 1,200 from the hijack and both the UTG limper and Brinn called to see the {6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop.

Two checks saw Yeung bet 2,200 and only Brinn called to see the {j-Hearts} turn.

Brinn proceeded to check-call a bet of 3,200 and then checked for the third time on the {5-Diamonds} river.

Yeung bet again, this time 4,400, and that did the trick as Brinn released his hand.
