Nines No Good for Herstein

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Gary Herstein
Gary Herstein

Just before the last break, a player in middle position opened for 2,200 and Corey Barkach three-bet to 6,100 from the hijack. Gary Herstein, a close, personal friend of Mr. Howard Hankin, then four-bet jammed for 14,300 from the small blind. The original raiser folded and Barkach called.

Corey Barkach: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Gary Herstein: {9-}{9-}

It was a flip and Herstein was looking to hold to stay alive. Unfortunately for him, that proved easier said than done as the {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop paired Barkach.

Neither the {8-Hearts} turn nor {4-Clubs} river helped Herstein and he headed for the exit.

Yousef Saleh

After having his pocket kings defeated by ace-queen, Yousef Saleh found himself extremely short stacked and all in against four opponents.

On a flop of {5-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, another player bet all in for 23,100, causing all of the other opponents to fold. Left heads up, both players tabled their hands. Saleh held {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} against the {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} of his opponent.

The board ran out {2-Spades}{k-Spades} to bing the chips to Saleh who staved off elimination.

Rockets Hold for Steele

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Pat Steele
Pat Steele

Pat Steele opened the action to 2,500 from the hijack and was called by the button and the big blind.

The flop of {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs} checked around.

The players watched as the dealer turned the {4-Spades}. The big blind checked before Steele bet 3,200. The player on the button re-raised to 8,200 causing the big blind to fold before Steele called.

On the river {9-Diamonds}, Steele checked to his opponent who fired 12,200. Steele made the call and watched his opponent turn over {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Steele revealed {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to take the pot and add a nice chunk to his stack.
