Reynolds Takes from Vang

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Mike Reynolds
Mike Reynolds

From early position, a player raised to 200 and was re-raised to 2,000 by Kou Vang from the hijack. The action folded to Mike Reynolds who made the call from the small blind. All other players folded leaving the action heads up headed to the flop.

Reynold "checked dark" prior to a flop of {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Vang bet 1,500 and Reynolds made the call.

The {q-Hearts} on the turn led to both players checking.

Reynold then chose to bet 3,000 on the river prior to the final card being revealed. After the dealer completed the board with the {2-Spades}, Vang made the call. Reynolds turned over {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Vang mucked.

An Early Double for Magnus

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Nadya Magnus on Day 1a
Nadya Magnus on Day 1a

A player limped from early position and Ben Keeline responded with a raise to 300 from the cutoff. The players on the button and small blind both called before Nadya Magnus three-bet to 1,600 from the button. The early-position limper then woke up with a check-raise to 6,800 and action folded back to Magnus, who just called.

On the {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop, Magnus checked and her opponent bet 10,000. Magnus then sprung to life with a check-raise of her own, making it 21,000 to go, and she called when her opponent moved all in for just a bit more.

Nadya Magnus: {a-}{a-}
Opponent: {j-}{j-}

Both players held overpairs but the aces of Magnus were best. Neither the {8-Spades} turn nor {a-Diamonds} river harmed Magnus and she doubled to 60K.

Herstein Gets Value from Kings

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Gary Herstein
Gary Herstein

From under-the-gun, Adam Thomas raised to 400 and was called by the players in the hijack and cutoff positions. Gary Herstein, from the button, then raised to 1,900. The blinds folded and the call was made by all three remaining players: Thomas, the hijack, and the cutoff.

On a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, Thomas led for 3,500 causing the hijack and cutoff players to fold, while Herstein made the call.

The turn brought the {5-Diamonds}. Thomas fired another 5,100 that was called by Herstein.

On the {8-Hearts} river, both players checked. The {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} of Thomas was not enough to overcome the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} of Herstein, who was pushed the pot.

Hankin on Better End of Flush-Over-Flush

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Howard Hankin
Howard Hankin

After an early-position player and the cutoff both limped, Howard Hankin raised to 600 on the button. The small blind folded, the big called, and the first limper got out of the way. The cutoff called and it was three-way action to the {a-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop.

Action checked to Hankin and he continued for 1,200. Only the big blind called and the {10-Spades} turn put three spades on the board.

The big blind check-called a bet of 1,500 and then action went check-check on the {10-Diamonds} river.

The big blind showed the {7-Spades}{4-Spades} for a flush but it was no good as Hankin held a bigger one with the {k-Spades}{j-Spades}.

Schiller Takes It w/ Fourth Pair

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Just before the level went up, the under-the-gun player raised to 400 and Brendan Schiller called from the cutoff. The button and big blind both called and the flop came down {5-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

Action checked to Schiller, who bet 1,200, and only the button called to see the {a-Spades} turn.

Schiller bet again, this time 2,300, and his opponent called to see the {q-Clubs} river.

Schiller checked and wound up tank-calling after the button bet 5,000 with what turned out to bet the {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a missed draw. Schiller then tabled his {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens and the win.

Thomas Hits His Two-Outer

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

A player in the cutoff raised to 1,100. Adam Thomas, on the button, declared "all-in" which caused the players in the blinds to immediately fold. The player in the cutoff asked for a count, which was 12,700, before making the call with his {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Thomas was in rough shape with his {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

The flop provided no immediate help to Thomas as the dealer revealed {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}, but the magic {9-Spades} turn card gave Thomas the lead, which he would not relinquish as the board completed with the {j-Spades}.
