International Poker Open 2024 Branding
International Poker Open 2024 Branding

With a total of 240 entries already confirmed in the €250,000 guaranteed International Poker Open Main Event, the only question is how high that number can grow at the Bonnington Dublin Hotel.

Yesterday's Day 1b drew double the entries compared to the opening flight, with Ireland's John Vogelaar taking the overall chip lead after bagging an impressive 410,000.

As we head into the weekend, Day 1c is upon us today and could be the largest flight of the entire tournament. This suggests that by the end of today’s play, expect to see a new contender rising to the top of the chip counts as we approach Day 2 on Sunday, October 27.

The plan is to get through 15 levels, with late registration open until the end of Level 9. If needed, players are allowed one reentry per flight.

Blinds will start at 100/100 with no big blind ante, with every subsequent level then including a big blind ante.

After Day 1c wraps up, the players who survive will join those who advanced from the other five flights for Day 2, set to start at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 27.

Joe Ward

Joe Ward, who has already qualified for Day 2 after being one of the survivors out of Day 1a, raised to 300 under the gun with John Curran calling on the button.

Ward fired a continuation-bet of 500 on the 73J flop and Curran slid in the call.

The 6 dropped on the turn and Ward bet out for 900. Curran quickly called.

Ward unloaded the clip with a third barrel when the K hit the river. Curran didn't long to fold, and Ward won the pot.

Jamie Bryne
Jamie Bryne

With around 12,000 in pot, on a flop of 492, Joe Wrafter checked from the big blind, Stephen Freeman checked from the hijack, and Jamie Bryne bet 4,000 from the button. Wrafter folded, but Freeman called.

Freeman check-called another bet from Byrne on the 9 turn, this time for 6,500.

The 5 hit the river and Freeman checked. Bryne shoved for Freeman's remaining 30,000, and after doing some inventory, Freeman called.

Byrne turned over JJ for an overpair to the board, which was good as Freeman knuckled the table and showed A5 for just a pair of fives.
