Players Info - Day 2

Table of Death #2

On the luck of the draw, most of the professional players are pretty well-spaced throughout the room. That is, until you peek over at Table 4 in the far back corner. In Seat 1 sits "The Magician", Antonio Esfandiari. Two seats over, donning a pair of dark sunglasses, is Full Tilt pro Rafe Furst. And Seat 7 is occupied by the perennial powerhouse Evelyn Ng, who is nursing a dangerously short stack this afternoon.

Pace of Play

The tournament room is quite serious in disposition to start the day. On Day 1, players were spending almost as much time wandering the room as they were in their seats. Today, however, finds everyone intently focused on the action at their own tables as we begin to push towards the real 'meat' of the tournament.

The pros, as well as the players with big stacks, seem to be taking things slow in the early going, while the short stacks have been pressing hard, looking to get their money in for a double-or-nothing gamble. It will be interesting to see how play progresses as we move through the day.

Straight in to Action

Michael Mizrachi was heads-up with a player in the small blind. The river had just been dealt giving us a board reading {9-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {4-Hearts} and there was already 27,000 in the pot.

The small blind checked to face a 10,000 bet from Mizrachi. He went into the tank as this call would be for a good chunk of his remaining stack. He separated the amount needed to call from his stack, looked at the board once more and made the call.

Mizrachi quickly turned over {7-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} for the straight. His opponent tapped the table and mucked his hand.

Table Draw

As play gets underway we are able to see that, for the most part, big name players and stacks seem to be fairly evenly spread throughout the room. One exception to this is a table in the corner that contains our chip leader going in to today, Casper Hansen, Juha Helppi, Voitto Rintala and Gus Hansen.

If that wasn't enough to contend with, the players at this table also have to watch out for a player who has a torch of some sort shining blue light continually up into his face!

Almost Set to Go

We are on just a slight delay here as the players finish unbagging their chips and the staff makes their final last-minute preparations. During this time, the entire tournament room has been curtained off, such that no media or spectators can see what is taking place inside. The only people in the room are the players, dealers, floor staff, and the official Partouche video crew. We expect to be underway in just a few minutes.
